Never used one before, but now I'd like to try it out. What would be a good one to use and how would I set it up?

Captain Cox's CBS Radio Mod, latest version is very well done. This one has been a mainstay on my radio. Best thing to do is to try a few out and see for yourself.
As far as how to install, most are JSGME and also come with good instructions.

Radio is a great feature in SH4, it really adds to the immersion.

By all means download and try any of the great radio stations available. You just need to be be aware that any station which gives you "scripted" broadcasts ( i.e. radio programmes / news broadcasts which transmit at a certain date and time ) are subject to an in-game "bug" which means that if you save your game, when you return to it, the radio will begin scripted broadcasts from the date at which your mission commenced - not the date at which you saved it. This is particularly problemmatical with stations which script news broadcats.
