I have mentioned this briefly before, but it is now really starting to get on my nerves!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I have only seen what the radio even looks like because it was in someone else's screenshot, I have never seen it or the Gramophone in my own game.

1) I click on the last tab on the taskbar(the movie camera icon)
2) I can click on the Free Camera icon, and it depresses and away it goes to external view.
3) But!!! If I click on the Radio or Gramophone icon, nothing happens(whether I am submerged or surfaced), and the buttons dont depress or change color or nothing.I don't even get as much as a clicking sound when I click on either icon.
4) The only way I can get the Gramophone to work, is to mofify the Commands.cfg file via the Setkeys program(but it only turns on, does not show up on screen).

I have almost all of BR's radio stations, and can't even listen to them, I don't even know if you are supposed to receive news broadcasts automatically or not, because the radio has never been functional for me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Any suggestions of what I am doing wrong ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Have you tried running the game without any mods?

That's one weird problem indeed but you should be able to receive radio messages from radio Washington anyway

Only messages I receive are contact reports and all. I have never received any Radio messages ever, even running stock game. I don't even know what the Radio or Gramophone looks like on the screen.

I have about 7 GB of radio stations(News and Music), and I can't even use them. I am about to just use WinAmp to play them randomly while I play. I am getting very frustrated.

This is(So far), the only bug I have with SH4, besides low fps, but thats my fault for having a 4 yr old computer.

Ok,
1. Are the new radio stations in the Radio.ini file? and
2. Are your music files stereo or mono because the need to be mono.

1. Yes
2. I believe they are mono, 95% of my Radio Staion inventory is downloaded from Bunkerratt's FileFront page.

I don't even receive the stock Washington Radio News Broadcasts, I get nothing. And like I said, I cant even open the Radio Interface, I don't even know wheat the Radio even looks like, or the Gramophone.

If you used Setkeys before the problem happened, then that's what did it! Setkeys does something to Commands.cfg that breaks some commands (it was written for SH3) I don't know what exactly it does, but the two broken commands I noticed the 1st time I used it were Gramophone and Radio. Neither one would work anymore just like you describe.

If this is the case, and if you have a copy of the original, unmodified Commands.cfg, try this:

1) Rename your "bad" Commands.cfg.
2) Copy back the original Commands.cfg.
3) Run SH4 and try Gramophone/Radio - they should work now.
4) If they do work, open the "good" Commands.cfg in a copy of Notepad, and open the "bad" Commands.cfg in another copy of Notepad.
5) Locate all the changed keymaps in the "bad" file, and copy/paste to the "good" file.

If restoring an original, unmodified Commands.cfg don't get Gramophone/Radio working, then I don't have a clue what's wrong...

If this does fix the problem, be aware that Setkeys will break radio and gramophone again, if you use it again on the live Commands.cfg. I use Setkeys all the time, but only on a copy of Commands.cfg that I put in another folder. Then I copy/paste the changes from the editted file to the live one.

HTH!

FTR, they *don't* have to be in mono. I have some music in both mono and stereo, wav and mp3, and it doesn't have a problem with either.
