E. Topp musical secret! v1.0
=====================
From the read me:
Brazil is a very interesting place. This big country received people from all the places of the world like all the others countries in Americas, mainly in the end of 1800´s to early 1900´s. These people comes here to escape from the hunger and misery that dropped over Europe and Asia mainly after the first world war. They come to work on the land and to build their families in peace.
The germans had and have a big comunity here in south of Brazil.
The years passed and a new war put its shadow over the Europe again.
Even Brazil, a so distant place, now is building his Expeditionary Force to fight in the distant countries of Europe...
In may 1943, Erich Topp received a strange package from Brazil. From a very special relative which years ago start his life here in Brazil. This package had only one big 45 rpm vinil called "Cançăo da Força Expedicionária Brasileira" and a small letter with these few lines (translated from the german)
"Dear uncle Erich Topp,
This is a small gift to you from Brazil. This is a beutiful song from the Brazilian Army. The brazilian soldiers, which will fight this war in Italian land.
This military song is so beautiful and speaks so much about Brazil that I should like to present it to you. Hopes that you like it.
Long life to you, our family and for the Faderland.
Marleen."
-My charmer Marleen, how could I miss you? And also Lili, your friend?
Erich, visibly tired and with his eyes full of tears, looked at that vinil for a second, pick up some wine, fire up a cigar and then quickly put it in the Gramophone. His eyes closed after few minutes...a new patrol will start some hours late and he needs to rest a bit...
The final of this history is very easy to know...this is why this beautiful brazilian military song could be listened in some german uboats after 1943!
================================================== =========
Well, just kidding, this history obviously never happened but this song is really very beautifull and speaks about the humble but brave brazilian soldiers that fought in Italy from 1944 until the end of the war. I also provide some links (in portuguese, sorry, but this is the intention - curiosity!) about the uboats sunk in brazilian coast and also the brazilian ships that were sunk in WWII. Interesting is that some of then were sunk by italian submarines!
Hopes that you like it guys (and also excuse me for the little joke, but we deserve to have some soft moments, no? Also excuse me by my english LOL). The song is in mp3 and ogg format, ready to be put on the gramophone folder if you like it. This is the original 1943 first record.

Cheers,
Rubini.
Nice stuff. Thanks Rubini. The song isn't bad either.
The song is nice, even if I don't understand brasilian lyrics. :p
The sound quality is absolutely awesome for a 1943 recording.
Thank you very much Rubini ! :D
:arrgh!:
Thanks mates,
Yes this military song is very beautiful, specially the words inside it, which isn't understandable for anyone than the brazilian /portuguese ppl of course.
The idea is to just render a tribute to the brazilian soldiers.:yep:
I'm sure that all the countries armies on the world - WWII era to be more exactly - have something similar. I should like to have these military/special songs from Italy, USA, England, Canada, Greek, Japan, India Australia, Denmark, etc, etc. Perhaps someone from each country, could provide them?
My gramophone will be very cult then!:know:

For Australia, I quite like "Digger (http://intranet.bps.lism.catholic.edu.au/Learning%20Objects/Assets/Digger-/audio/183744_digger.mp3)", written and recorded by Jack Lumsdaine in March 1942. Not quite a rousing march, but a nice little ditty that celebrates the Aussie soldier. So typically Australian.

Indeed the song is beutiful. I could get you a Hungarian song if you'd like, even though you don't see some many ships with red-white-green flags. :)

Of course! Give me the link!
I want my gramophgone with plenty of WWII era songs/military marchs. I like very much the more common ones (english/american/german ones) obviously, but I want the more "rare" ones too!

Sent the first song in PM to Rubini, but posting it too so maybe I encourage others to post their countries' songs aswell and also I hope you'll like it. ^^
"Szervusztok lányok, huncut zsiványok"
Rough translation of the title:
"Goodbye ladies, you naughty gals"
http://rapidshare.com/files/46554960..._nyok.mp3.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/46554960/19._Szervusztok__l_nyok.mp3.html)
A goodbye song to the girls left home. Mainly sung in WW1, but it remained popular later on aswell. It's not really showing the stress of war, it rather feels like if they are singing about going on a happy tour.
In the song the brave soldiers optimistically say goodbye to their loved ones promising that they will be back soon. So they go accompanied by their music band to help the German Kaiser at the French front.
Sadly there are no original recordings, so this is a new recording sung and played as they did back in the war years.
To make sure you don't say "bah, this song is not from WW2, but from earlier and anyways it's not an original recording" I've uploaded a WW2 aswell :) :
"Átmegyek a Királyhágón"
"I go through Király-pass"
http://rapidshare.com/files/46581100/B-04_-_Atmegyek_a_Kiralyhagon.mp3.html
Huszár/Hussar, classical Hungarian light-cavalry. They fought against the Russians on the eastern front armed with rifles and swords. Sometimes they won suprising victories making large groups of Russians fleeing. The superstitious enemy thought that they are evil, red devils on horseback so they started fleeing in panic upon seeing the hussars.
The song tell you about an old bagpiper who resides in a tavern and he plays only one, only this song: "Átjöttem a királyhágón, elveszett a huszárcsákóm..."
The hussar goes through the Király-pass in Transylvania, but unfortunately he lost his hussar-hat! So he has to try and find the hat, his beloved hussar hat. Our husar goes back through the Király-pass, to find the hat and he swears to God that he'll find his beloved "huszárcsákó".
A bit comical song, becouse you'd think a hat isn't such a big problem. but our hussar doesn't agree with you. :)

Great idea you've started here Rubini, hope everyone can contrinute one or two popular 30s or 40's songs from the their country. Perhapps someone could compile a gram pack of them, and mix in some radio noise.
The songs alone would be an interesting cultural exchange. I look forward to hearing them.

Looks like a possible temporary glitch in the forum server. The first 3 appear to get cut off at the Chamberlain line and the last one actually manages to get through http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1817/thinkbigsw1yo4.gif
