is it possible to change the start date to, say, august 1939?

That would open up a whole new element to the game, if you can start ealier even a few weeks, then you can find a nicely filled port in the UK, and cruise right in and just wait for the war to start then go torpedo happy on the brits

It would be nice to cruise into Scapa Flow before the war without being shot at, wait for decliaation of war and then start sinking the british navy!:arrgh!:

I asked this same question about a year ago. I thought it to be a great idea because it would allow one to be on station in the Atlantic prior to Sept. 3, 1939.

The response I received at that time indicated that each and every beginning date in the entire SH3 program would need to be changed to reflect an earlier start date, say August 1, 1939. This was apparently considered to be too big a process for its value.

I thought it to be a great idea and would like to see it implemented.

if it was to be a lot of work, then maybe the rewards aren't worth it, sadly

you must remember that what you are talking about in august is
only being able to pre position earlier prior to the wars start date
so as to be in good position at the onset and you dont have
to do much to achieve that ive done it

you have to make your sub available for your chosen date and
you have to make a flotilla month for august in the flotilla of
your choice and obviously change the flotilla entry date.

presto your through the channel with a week or two to spare.

WAC also starts out in August '39.

Just enough time now to get out to Danzig to assist with ( or just observe) the action when it all kicks off.

Great stuff HS* .... always used to miss out before version 2.15!

* Except for the minefields being active?.....must've surprised the Captain of the Koenigsberg (who was taking avoiding action from about 3 miles away), hit one, and was last seen disappearing beneath the surface. :rotfl:

Start a career in Wilhelmshaven, and dash right though the channel at full speed.....you should be able to make it to Portsmouth right from the beginning of the war...as soon as hostilities begin, Hood is waiting there...it will give you some nice tonnage to jumpstart your career!

The easiest way is how explained by MM :yep: ....But remember, if you sail into a port no-one, not even ships (if they are even scripted for appearance that early) are going to give you a second look :nope:

Not very realistic IMO :nope:
