there must be a fix for the water issue sinking the sub every time someone flushes the luv !

i get minor hull damage so i set it on the bottom in 50-60ft water with no enemy any where around to attack me and boom the pressure hull caves in!

does anyone out there have a fix for slowing down flooding so you can survive and fix minor flooding?

the only thing i've seen is a mod to make the leaks look pretty but not control them.

it doesnt have to change damages just slow down sinking to allow more time for flooding repairs.

The game doesnt do a very good job of detailing the amount, and even more so, the type of damage. Any penetrating damage on the hull is fatal...period. On top of that any repairs to this kind of damage is really possible at sea, there just wasnt the resources and tools to "patch" the hull. The game demonstrates that well by causing the ship to have critical structural failure at minor depths, but its modeled horribly.

I had hull damage last night that should have sunk me, but it only caused my ship to sink after I repaired it. yes, it should have sunk me, but it should have sunk me once I dived, not after my crew supposedly fixed it and then we get a rapid and catastrophic failure of the hull.

I really hope someone address that issue...not the failure so much, becasue thats fine, but the failure only happening after the supposed repair.

well i have minor damage (i rubbed a sand bar doing 4 knots) and relatively little flooding (one compartment, front torpedo room showed a little blue line of water) then about 10 seconds after hearing the damage report the hull implodes due to the outside pressure while sitting on the sand bar with the conning tower barely breaking the surface lol.

i see no possible way to have any pressure on hull that shallow, it is crazy.

now if it wants to kill me then fine i can see loosing sub to flooding when compartments fill up but not imploding with no time given to stop the leaks.

Im not sure how much damage that should cause, but I'd guess in theory its possible the reef could tear a gash in the hull thats not repairable and the damage control meter/bar isnt providing accurate data.

That certainly shouldnt have killed the crew, but if it did tear the hull it woud certainly be the death of the sub.

Either way the damage model and reporting of damage needs to be tweaked big time.

Any time i touch the bottom, things get really really wierd.

I have survived terrible DC attacks in the shallows, then repaired for hours only to implode the second I start the engines and so much as kiss the sand. Too bad the sub vs sand collision can't be swapped with the sub vs DD collision model.

You was victim of the "domino" effect... try Die Slowly files.

i am aware of the domino effect only from crew manning a destroyed section like the conning tower, but i have no indication of that being the case. the flooding is minimal and i'm no longer taking any damage when the game desides to just kill me.

does "die slowly" effect the subs flooding rate?

i thought it just effected surface ships?

The hull damage is not reflected at any place, you can see it only saving the game and looking into the saved files.

When you take some kind of damage, your crush depth is dramatically reduced, i think so simulating a hull stress.

The matter is you start to take damage so quickly and with any kind of advertence, then suddently, you star up to receive crew advertences about many things are damaged and then is to later to do any thing. The domino effect is triggered up and you have no time to do any thing.

Yes Die Slowly changed the sub flooding times, plus the most important, the crash speed, wich is the speed at wich one your sub take damage.

This make the domino effect more slow, then even when you are at a depth where you are takeing damage, it happens to slow, you hull integrity is lossing points but it happens slowly, so you have more time to recover the flood, and rise up the sub to shalow depths.

It happens few times, you recover the sub, and it start to sink another time.... may happens many times, 2, 3 4 times... each time you loss part of your hull integrity, and if you dont manage well you crew skills on damaged compartements, finally you loss the sub.

I am working into a new vrsion of Die Slowly with 3 diferent levels of sub resistance, because a had some feedback about last versions made the sub too resistant.

ok so i got die slowly 16 but i only want the sub changes not surface ships, so how do i just change the sub?

So this 'Die slowly' mod makes the sub die due to sinking to crush depth not hit points or something?

Hmmm....thats a definte improvement. Still something needs to be done about the fact that seemingly fatal hull damages can be "fixed" when they shouldnt be fixable, and then the sub "dies" from the fatal damage only after its been supposedly repaired.
