Is there way to mod this so that they actually dont sink after ramming my sub which is in persiscope depth? or at least cause me serious damage, currently they dont, i was hoping they fixed this in 1.3 but they didnt.

:hmm: I wonder how many hps they have specified in the zon file.

Unusual. I got rammed big time with no damage to the DD but plenty of damage to me.

I haven't had a destroyer hit me yet with 1.3, but I did see a destroyer run into a freighter in the fog and rain as I was playing peek-a-boo with him while I was trying to sink the freighter. Destroyers are still paper tigers with 1.3.

HI,

I try to work on it. I thinking too that "paper tigers DD" decrease the realism.
The problem is due to the last DD armor level and hitpoints in DD*.zon, and last SUB armor level in the sub*.zon file.
So I modified the periscop and attack center armor level in the sim.cfg file changed the value of DD last armor level in DD.zon file, and use the realistic sinking mod.
The result is, when ramming by DD, periscop and attack center damage (not critical)and no DD destruction.

DD are still sinking by torpedoes.

Now, I have to test this config during attack by depht charge to see if sub armor is ok.

To pass the last armor lever of the sub to 0 improve the hull resistance and make more flicking light inside.

I modified only gato.

If you want to test and say to me what do you think about it I can Post a test version.

Regards,

Jean

PS : sorry for my poor English langage I am French

Wow, that would be a major contribution if you solve this problem, jean!

Here's what I did...

Open your zones.cfg, find NEW ESCORT section..

Locate Keel...

Increase Hitpoints to that location by whatver you would like to try...

HitPoints=180 is my cureent setting...

Then go to escorts, find zon files, up hitpoints a little..

They still sink after a torp or two... they still ram, but they sink less often after ramming.. (still occurs though)

I tested it a bit, but you could tweak it a little I'm sure..

I got rammed by what looked like a gunboat, at least he was only about half my size. He visited Davey Jones Locker pretty quickly, and did little damage to me. The question I have is:

WHERE DA HELL DID HE COME FROM???

I was returning to Freemantle, a thousand miles from nowhere, steaming on the surface at 10 kts, around noon, calm seas, clear weather, and ABSOLUTLY NO WARNING! It was also early in the war (I'm on an S-Boat), so I had no surface radar, but lookouts were posted.

Perhaps I should FLOG my lookouts???? :D

Unusual. I got rammed big time with no damage to the DD but plenty of damage to me.

It happens all the time and in same fashion as in original SH3, but I am refering to multiplayer, in multiplayer SH4 1.3 destroyers continue to ram and sink themselves by ramming our subs...

I noticed at least one of those tin cans, only has 120 hps in the zon file as well.

It's definitely still a problem in 1.3...what a shame. Just happened to me and the DD got blown into oblivion from tapping my scope. It was hilarious the first time it happened...not so funny now...I hope it gets fixed.

I don't know what the problem is exactly, but if a DD sideswipes my con tower (i.e. his bow never really touches it) I go away unscratched while he limps away to either sink later or blows up. Surfacing under his keel seems to have the same effect. However deliberatly trying to ram him does absolutely nothing. He has to be the one trying to ram you.
