View Full Version : Fix for periscope animations and graphics?

This from Ducimus;
"I'll post this as a mod later, but its late, and this is something you can do yourself if you want.
To get periscope animations back, all you need to do, is use the conning tower DAT files from SH version 1.2. I just reinstalled SH4, explicitly to grab those dats to see if it would work and it does.
The only thing your missing is the Radar and hydrophone labels. All though the switch's and everything else work just fine, its just the labels that are missing.
Also the green light indicator on the hydrophone is located below the handle of the hydrophone itself while operating it. The green light works, its just not up top like it is in the 1.3 dat file.
edit: I tried to extract the texture files from the newer dat file to import into the older dat file, but no dice. None of the DAT tools from SH3 seem to work, just FYI so your not spinning your wheels."
Just a thought....Would it it be possible to copy and use the old Conningtower DAT that Ducimus suggests and then use OakGroove's new high-res interior mod to get the labels back on the radar and sonar displays?

It would be more wonderfull if someone could fix the SH-IV v. 1.3 dat file to make them raise and lower. I bet its a dof setting or something that they forgot.

I am not sure but I think the texture used ( is overlapping) so in other words its not just to put the labels as its will be all over the place. Have not checked but I think its like this, as all the labels have their own "new" texture map in 1.3

Nope. Labels are imbedded into the dat file, theres no way to extract or import into SH4 dats right now that im aware of.
It would be more wonderfull if someone could fix the SH-IV v. 1.3 dat file to make them raise and lower. I bet its a dof setting or something that they forgot.
Sources tell me its not possible.

elaniaba has already said this bug came about because they had to re-import the interior models when they updated the radar and sonar stations, so it's likely the fix has to come from the devs' s end.

No prob's to make peri animation in conning tower of patch 1.3...

In interiors files there are a lot of mistakes and I do not know what to do or to make one mod (fix all mistakes), but it will be not fast, or to make little mods ...
I can to upload edited Gato file and to send PM for you ...
And now I do not have time to do mods...

Is there a fix for the animated periscopes or not and if so will it work with Captain Cox's mod "PULL DOWN PACIFIC MAP for SH4 for Patch V1.3 REVISION A" ??

I just have to say, i didnt' fix jack schitt. Anybody can reinstall SH4, and grab the CT dat files.
I also have to say, im really surpised Anvart got this working. I was told that the periscope animations were not in the dat file, so i thought the issue an impossiblity. (how can you fix what your told is not there?) But apparently things were there, although i don't think anyones really going to miss the periscope handle animation.

Look.. I don't want to sound like a party pooper.. but if your going to call this a fix then your wrong, This fix breaks other stuff ingame so its not a fix but a work-a-round mod at best. "Sorry but I'll pass.
