Installation is modular - individual parts of the Mod can be activated via JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) by JScones http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products.html)
Available Submarine Instruments (SI) Moduls for Installation:
-SI HUD Kit ( Replacement for Orders Bar)
-SI Interior Kit ( Replacement for Interior Textures)
-SI Optics Kit ( Replaces Deckgun, TBT and Periscope optics )
-SI Periscope&TBT Interface Kit ( Replaces Periscope&TBT screen instruments )
-SI Sonar Metric Scale Kit ( Metric Scale Version of the Range Dial )
-SI Recognition Manual Kit (Replaces Recognition Manual Textures)
Generic installation procedure using JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME):
+ Unrar the content of SH4 Submarine Instruments.rar into the MODS folder created by JSGME in your SH4 directory.
+ Run JSGME, the 6 SI moduls should be listed as available mods.
+ Select and press the ">" button, or click and drag from Available Mods to Activated Mods to install individual modules.

I like to thank Gino den Ridder of the USS Cod Memorial for kindly providing reference material and his expertise.
The USS Cod is the only un-altered Gato class submarine in the world.
There are no holes cut out of the pressure hull for easy tourist-access, all the other museum boats in existance have this. Visitors have to climb down the same way as the crew did some 60 years ago. That makes Cod unique. What is also unique is that the boats inner spaces are 'open', no acrylic walls hindering the view. Hi Oakgrooves,
Been buzy to import this wonderfull stuff to the "supermod" I've been making for myself. During this proces I noticed something odd.
The SI Interior kit installs to: data\textures\tnormal
I think it should be in : data\textures\tnormal\tex
Also, in the recognition mod, the sea folder should (imho) be in the data folder
Can you confirm??
Looks great - will be installing this weekend.

I'm not familiar with the latest Trigger Maru build (1.3?). No .cfg or .dat files were altered in SI - just textures. AFAIK TM incoorporates graphical mods, so there is a chance it will conflict.
@Captain Cox,
you probably noticed that i went for the Torpedo Room panel - I couldn't get the CT panel to look and work as intended. Did you have some success in the meantime?
Is the recognition manual the same 512x256 that I am working with, or is it higher res? I'm having some issues with the graphics and higher res would make it easier (using real ONI graphics)

i'm using stock sized for recognitionmanual.dds (1024x1024) and *sil.dds (512x256). Just the rec manual flags are slightly larger than default (168x84 vs. 128x64).

His BordeInstrumente mod for SH3 is a legend. Every interior fix for that game is based on his fine work.

Well, Steve, I gotta tell you, I never played SH3. I did play SH1 however, long time ago. :cool:
Nowadays, I am not sailing the seas anymore, got a deskjob, there's more time for this kind of stuff. :yep:
What I want to say is this; The way most of you people talk about SH3 gives me the feeling I really missed something, to the point I want to purchase it. Maybe I eventually will. :know:
SH4 is a great sim in my view, despite the moaning and bitching of people around the forum. Playing this sim with the mods people make is even more so, so..........:)

It really looks like you put a lot of work into it and it looks great. But, the download site was so slow, I couldn't get it downloaded. I felt like I was on the old phone line again (15 kps). If it can't be uploaded to some place faster. I will try again when I have more time. Looks Really Good From the Screenies..

Man - you're right about that - mine is crawling along at a whopping 19 Kbps (on a 6-meg connection) - I guess they want to give you plenty of time to look at all the naughty pictures :lol:

I download this mod and installed.......WOW:o what a HUGE difference. This mod is absolutely beautiful. Fantastic job and many thanks. All stations have taken on a new realistic life! Must have mod as far as I'm concerned.

Awsome mod. It adds so much to the immersion. Just one problem, if i change views (eg move to the periscope or bridge etc) this happens:

Looks like they got some 60s era hippy types to do the interior decor:o. Not sure if this is directly related to this mod as all textures seem to become corrupted in this manner, even the sky. Don't think it's a hardware problem as it dosent happen in any other games. Runing SH4 v1.3 but it happens in all versions. My specs are:
Intel core 2 cpu @ 1.8ghz
2 gb ram
Nvidea geforce 7600gt with 256 mb ram and latest drivers
OS is windows vista fully updated.

As per Gino's suggestion i tried giving the dive and rudder plane wheels a brass appearance ... problem is the according texture portion gets mapped throughout half the interior ... in this regard not much has changed since SH3. Using the same texture over and over might be economic, but disadvantageous to detail and realism.
Regardless, there's hope that one day we can launch our fish using a visually realistic and working representation of the CT panel, thanks to the efforts of many talented people here. ;)

if you installed a previous version of the orders bar gauges, it would be wise to deactivate it, as SI contains updated versions of these files. If installing the SI Sonar (Metric scale) after installing the SI Interior kit, you will also be notified. You can acknowledge the dialog. Why it conflicts with Kriller's mods is atm beyond my knowledge.

the specific file is noisestatic.dds but it doenst affect behaviour of game ... it just warns in jsgme
also are you considering adding the search pattern buttons to your mod ?

Thanks for this very detailed, good looking mod.
I'm having a conflict with the smaller chronometer mod when using this.
The 1.3 stock chronometer is ugly, especially how it contrasts with these vintage periscope and tbt instruments panels.
Can anyone please tell me how to shrink the stopwatch to 75% or recommend a modded stopwatch that works with this textures mod?

Most excellent mod. I give it 9 out of 10. I would have given it 10 but the mod interferes with another favorite of mine, the hi-resolution map table. If the two could be combined, I would be in pigboat heaven!

I love the mod-one thing I miss though is the different options in the menubar from TM. Like range and distance to end, weather, etc.
Is there a way to keep those settings but retain the black/red colors?
Oakgrove, tested your mod and it ROCKS beyond words, great work.
BUT there is a little mistake, both metric and imperial sonar textures are REVERSED. Imperial shows the correct range for metric, and metric for imperial.
If I may request and suggest that this mod be rehosted somewhere else, like Filefront.
The current transfer rate is simply less than pathetic.

thank you oak groove for your mods,you do awesome work,but im expierencing some CTD since i added this mod and anvarts interior periscope,i have additional mods im using as well.does any one know how i can target this problem of CTD im currently in my single player campaign and this can be very frusterating with these CTDs happening.
I posted an issue with this because I'm using the same card w/vista and still trying to find a combo that will stop this as far as settings go. If you find any answer let me know. A quickie fix is minimize and bring back up.
And this Mod is Just the polish on the graphics we needed, yea man!

The slow downlaod speed probably has something to do with the soft core European porn pop-ups the "uploaded.to" site is tacking onto the files there. Which come up quite quickly and completely, while the download struggles along at something less than a 1989 2400 baud modem's speed.
However... through the efforts of the fans there are alternate download sites available sans "girls looking for dates". See links in the posts above for a proper download experience. Thank you folks!
And of course, a big thank you to Oak. This is a wonderful looking enhancement to the game!

An awesome mod you have made here.
Allthough i found a tinywiny bug... :)
The Repeter Compass in the big round table in the control room - its showing wrong bearings. fx. when heading 265°True the repeter shows 275° as your heading.... I think the outer band should be reciprocal - or turn the other way.

No, my pop us blocker wasn't effecting it. When I clicked download, a pop up for some sort of dating site came up. Oh well, I found another link to download it from in another post. Thanks. :)

it is a tarnished Copper color which was a common thing to see on a sub unless it got polished.

i average about 37 fps and lower inside and 27fps outside, thats when in the open sea.

This mod is unbelievable, i wish i started using it sooner. the orders bar is great and the torpedo interface was very nicely done.

Uhm, do it yourself with a graphics editing program?
uhm, sounds simple enough, where can i find the file to edit? all the files in the mod are .dds files. I dont believe they can be simply edited with a graphics program....

Another thing I was wondering about: Is there is a way to make the attack scope image dimmer? The attack scopes naturally had smaller objective lenses that let in less light (and consequently reduced nighttime usability)...

Its a 1.4 bug there is a fix for it somewhere on this forum.

I believe the fix you see in the link is for the missing dial faces in some of the submarines. In the conning tower the dial faces are missing....apparently introduced with the new patch(1.4). This fix here has nothing to do with Oakgrooves mod.

This file will replace the command bar (bottom of screen) with one that doesnt have the "pink" background on the quantity indicators.

Sorry if I resurrect this old post, but have a question.

....unfortunately NO; Oak Grooves excellent hud,optics,interior etc. do not work in V1.5 - I have tried everything short of directly asking for assistance here. Using his mods are the only way I can stand to play SH4 as the stock dials & order bar colors annoy me greatly. I started using Trigger Maru Overhaul so I could have Oak Grooves dials,optics,hud etc. but TMO changes too much in the gameplay area for my tastes so now I'm stuck hoping Oak Groove will whip out some mods for V1.5 thaty will give us the TMO LOOK w/o all the other changes so I can load up NSM4 & have the same gaming exp. I had with V1.4
But you know what they say, hope(wish) in one hand & *bleep* in the other & see which one fills up first! :rotfl:

I think the NSM4 / ROW PE / RFB / RSRD combo I've got installed right now is going to be great in V1.5 - you should give it a shot....I really like it & in a few days once I get used to it I think I may like it better than my V1.4 set-up that I was so comfortable with.:yep:
