I am asking in a name of 10% GWX users who have serious daily work and family obligations, i.e. do not have 7-8 hours to try&practice superb convoy attack combinations...
Is there any tweak, mode or something else, that would make our approach and escape combinations to convoy rewarded sometimes, instead of three DDs pinging us instantly and endlessly...- after single torpedo shot at convoy ???
Not asking for a baby mode, just some possible 10-15% decreasing tweak ...if there is any existing?
Congratulations to all the "wolfs" who have a nice escape records, thare is no need to emphasize it again ...
Any mode or tweak for exausted "dadies" who want to decrease superb escort performance...for some critical 10-15%?

If you aren't confident in striking at convoys...then don't bother. If you're a noob at the game (I've been playing for half a year and I still suck) don't bother ending your career for some extra tonnage. But from what I've learned...if you get caught, Dive and run silent. If you're deep...go deeper...and aim towards the convoy, if you can get among them, the escort will most likely lose your position.
After they've lost your signal, stay dead in the water and wait till a good time to escape, just wait till they've all left then surface and do any repairs you need to do.
It's logical...dunno if that's what happens in game though

There is a sensor mod available that 'downgrades' or 'lessens' their effectiveness. It's available from UBRS (can't remember it's name and I'm not at home right now) but I'm sure someone will be along soon to confirm or otherwise

It sounds great, just right thing,...
If there is any chance, please determine the download link.
As I said, I am not asking for a baby mode... just some slightly decreased escort effectivnes, that would make sense to our "non expert" combinations and tactics... still with deep simulation envirinment, but with those 20% survival chance in escape combinations (within early 1942...for example)
I do appreciate "wolfpack" achievements within subsim comunity, but there are GWX fans who have 2-3 hours per week to try some tactics... and would be delighted to survive 1 of 5 attempts.
Come on wolves, there are tweaking gurus out there...

Did you have a look at Rubini's "Stay Alert mod ver 1.2"? I believe it increases the effectiveness of your watch and sonarman.
There is also a modded AI_Sensors.dat file included, by Jungman. From the readme, I gather it slightly decreases the effectiveness of the escorts.

Makes them slightly less effective than GWX (if I interprete the readme correctly).

Thanks Reece,
just want to be sure that it is just slightly decreased DD's performance...
Challenging escorts is 60% of passion and excitment of this simulation!
I'll give it a go tonight!
(by the way, did anyone figured out text file for tweaker, for a fine tuning?)

Any chance to recall the file name or address ?
Adriatico,
Yes, I guess that the Stay Alert crew mod will make exactly what you want if you also use it with the Jungman Ai_Sensors.dat provided as option on the mod.
(Now always Speaking about 8km):
GWX have two main areas where the game becomes a lot more difficult than the stock game:
1. Extended visual range detection by the AI (from 8 to 30km) - but notice that the player and your crew continues with 8km!
2. A more agressive and sensitive enemy sensors in general (Sim.cfg and AI_sensors.dat files).
The Stay Alert crew mod aims mainly to make your crew more smart - you will detect visually the enemy first - the smoke on horizon! - and also will see the airplanes a bit (only a bit) more early now. It also tones down the long visual range by the enemy - to make the game more balanced - because if you and your crew only can see anything at 9km max. (stock at 8km) why the enemy can see you, a small boat on the ocean, far more away? This needs balance IMHO. The last "Stay Alert" feature is to make your man on Hydrophones more alert and less deaf.
...
I'm playing the game alot lately and in the last days I returned to the Stay Alert crew mod exactly to fine tunning the DD agressivity, what I think is exactly what you are looking for.
So, in the end, my new workaround aim: less uber visual AI (by enemy) detection, a more challenge escorts since early war, and a more balanced enemy sonars (more possibilities to evade in early war, less in late war) as the war runs. I guess that this is the best scenario possible to play SH3! I hate to not have (or only have a few) possibilities to escape...
These arent a "reinvent of the whell" again, in truth just fine adjusts here and there. GWX AI is very near of the best one for SH3.
Hopes that also GWX friends could understand me - this is not a criticism - but an attempt to have a yet more challenge and balanced gameplay!
If someone more also want this fine tunning I can make it as a mod!
Cheers,
Rubini.
