How the hell do you shut up your crew from saying ship spotted every 5 secs. I did some reading on previous threads but saw they were a few months old and was wondering if any new solutions have come out since then. The problem just started recently (late 1942 (started the game at the beginning), and was wondering if it was a corrupt file or something, I'm running GWX 1.3 and SubCmder 2.7.

remove the watch officer from his post and the others you should put on the DG and Flaks ;)

To me this usually happens when the ship is just on the verge of visual detection and the watch crew loses and reaquires contact every couple of seconds. About the only sollution I have is to close fast within a distance where the watch crew won't lose contact again. You could also remove the watch crew from the tower, but of course then you won't have any contacts reported at all.

The only time when I saw this was when I used the assisted plotting mod, and the repeated reports were caused by this line in sensors.cfg:

Decay Time For Precise Sensor Contacts=0 ;[>0] seconds

As the contact decays instantly, the crew reaquires the target over and over again.
Actually, this is the precise reason why I stopped using the assisted plotting mod.

Couldn't you just replace the *ship_spotted*.ogg files with one file that doesn't actually plays a sound ? This would make the whole thing quiet.

This sound can be very annyoing if approaching a convoy and every single ship of it that gets in sight is reported this way.

When playing under higher TC and coming across a single ship I would miss this sound though. Even when I'm watching the message bar all the time.

Actually the sound doesn't bother me too much, its just that it stops my time compression. Takes for ever to close in on a ship/convoy.

I guess I'll just have to take out my High Power and shoot the damn watch officer if he says ship spotted one more time....Thanks to all who replied!

also, what causes this to happen in mid game? like I said, I started a career at spt 1939, and the WO never started to act like an idot until summer of 1942.
