I live in the US. I don't care really for the intro, so I created my own. If you like it your free to use it. While playing click on file save as and copy it to your desktop. Go to your folder where you installed SH4 then into the following: Data\Movies\Intro
Rename your intro.wmv to something, that is if you want to keep it then copy mine
into that directory.
Here is the link to the intro. Below this link is the link to my website I just started if you click on the war room dogtag you will see my computer /war room. It is all WWII army including my computer desk is an old army field desk. enjoy.

Sub Sim is free to download and upload this to their MOD section if they want. I would be honored.
If you watch the film or see my war room (the website is still in progress) please post here and let me know what you think.

if you simply delete both files in the movies folder it will skip the intro altogether and go straight to loading the game. this really speeds things up quite a bit. this fix works for sh3 and sh4.

You are right, However I like having a movie, it gets me in the mind frame for the game. :D I also have an intro for SH3 but have not posted it. But if any one wants to check it out let me know I will.
By the way you can click through them to. When you click with your mouse button the movie ends. Then the game starts loading..

I can change the audio, what song were you thinking? I was trying to keep with the theme for the game. I don't think an acid rock or rap for that matter would be in keeping with the period.
However, I am open to suggestions.
Thanks

Yeah, I agree
The music got me thinking of B17 the mighty eighth. I vaguely remember music like that in game. :hmm:
Nicely put together. :)

Love it; I grew up when the Beatles were still playing...but I wouldn't use it for a WW2 sub sim, thanks.

right first off 2 things...
1. nice idea to change the intro
2. WHY? that vid, the acting is terrible the quality is terrible and the music was kinda bad.... u could of done some ingame shots using fraps an made 1 up then added some descent soundtrack to it

Has the above person stated the acting is "pretty terrible."
The clips used are from a classic war movie. The first person that can tell me the name of the movie, I will use what ever sound track they want and then post it so you can down load it.
This is a classic!!
The above poster, may want to go back and watch barney some more though I doubt he has a submarine, unless it is a neon purple...:D
you never saw "das boot" did you ?
listen to that soundtrack its from Klaus Doldinger
Kapt.Klaus

I do have das boot. However, those tracks don't seem to fit for this... I like the theme Roll Tide (includes "Eternal Father Strong to Save") But I can not find this.
If someone has it please post it or email it to me I will add it. This is from the movie
Crimson Tide.

JMACK your a WINNER.... get me a soundtrack and I will create it for you if you want. Run Silent Run Deep was made back in the 40's there for you can't compare it to DAS BOOT.... It stands on it own merit, I think it was done very well considering what they had for FX and all.

The above is the last one I am going to do, except for the WINNER to the movie question. However, this one has the theme from Crimson Tide. I think this is nice.
I noticed on the front page of your website that you had the word 'forget' in two words (for get). Not normally a spelling nazi but as it's not just a post but a website i'd let you know it's one word. Nice site either way.
anything from zimmer is good ... but the movie isnt that great either ... you should try and make some transitions from the movie to in game footage.
in fact i find the intro of sh4 very good ... well at least they got that right

That is not a bad idea, movie to in game... The only problem, I don't know how to make in game footage... but if some one could start where it shows the torpedo firing and then hitting a target, I could implement that into the video....
Finally a great suggestion with out someone just making rude comments... my hat is off to you.. thanks.
Let me know if any one can do this.

I am not done with the site, my time has been making some graphic modifications to SH4..... However, I did not use spell check LOL.. but great catch.. Thanks.
there are several programs that let you capture in game video
Fraps seems to be the most popular , but i not really into this
look around youtube you will see some examples of in game movies

Actually I looked into that before. First OTR which in case some of you don't know is Old Time Radio, broadcasts in general prior to 1972 before the copy right laws came into affect ... all music and broadcasts are legal to download and play. However, it is against the law to sell them for a profit.
In regards to movies prior to 1950, it is ok to use them for NON personal gain. The rights to those films have to be re-registered and in many cases they are not because they are so old. The few exceptions are like with Gone with the Wind and such. I did talk to a Copy Right Lawyer, he told me as long as I am not reproducing a full video and uploading for SALE or trying to use it to SELL something then there is nothing to worry about. (However, this is the instructions I got and an email/letter I received). I would advise anyone who has questions to contact a copy right lawyer.
