I just climbed up from Subsim archive - this damned Rapidshare is a cemetery of many interesting old mods - only dead linx.
Are they losted forever? I saw there some excellent sub-skinZ for type VIIB & C maded by JOCHEM and Grey Wolf Skin ver1.0 by CHURCH.
How to recover them?

I came into the forum late, and many great mods , skins, and models are just gone! I hope they are not lost!

Check the Download section at Uboatrealsim.com. Terrapin has just about all the mods made for SH3 and probably SH4 too.

Rapidshare will delete files if they aren't used after a certain amount of time. Makes more room on their server for new ones.

Yes i'm already registered at Terrapin bunker:up: - mods there are safe...and well known to us all;). Now i am looking for old mods. I wonder how the authors can let them die. Refreshing links and placing mods at Filefront (np)... it takes about 5 minutes.

The internet, is realy a big pile of crap built over kite strings. It's a wonder we don't loose more data. I remember it from the 3.1 days.
Mods that are lucky to get bundled into mega-mods have a better chance to survive. Free hosts like Filefront/rabidshare are popular but using them is alot like asking your buddy to keep an eye on your girlfriend. If you do find what your looking for, burn that puppie to a dvd.

And that is perfect advice:up: - good mods are priceless. Without modders
work the SILENT HUNTER 3 will be ...SILENT & FORGOTTEN HUNTER;).
What to do now? Meybe good idea will be sending a message on PM to
these old modders? If they're still alive then probably still sinking shipZ!:hmm:

File front will start deleting stuff if its inactive for...not sure but maybe 20-30 days. You get a mail though as an uploader and can sort a restart the countdown from scratch. But you have only 2 days to respond, if not, dead as a dodo.

Remember that many of the small older mods have been either superceded by newer versions, can be incompatible with 1.4 or any of the supermods, or have been absorbed into the supermods.

also remember many of these old mods were found to have unintended side effects in the game so new ways were found to do the things they changed. i think finding the ideas of these mods is all you need to redo it.

if you like an old mod, recreate what that mod did yourself, learning to mod the game can be as much fun as playing the game. with all the help you get here you can do anything you want to.

Click on the button that says 'Download Central'...not the 'Big Mods' window that comes up when you hold the cursor over it.
