I was playing SH3 earlier.. and when I hit the "open tube button", the message back saying it was being opened was instantanious.
However, in SH4.. it takes a few seconds to report back. Which is a pain if you want to cycle through quickly and open all the tubes.
Anyway this can be done?

The actual open time is 1 second - your only seeing the delay in the acknowledgement. The ejection time is around 1.2 seconds.
However, we could set both of these numbers much lower as desired. Want an .1 second opening and a .1 second firing time - wouldnt be hard to mod. Let me know if you want it done - or just use the minitweaker and the appropriate sub class .sim tweakfile to change it yourself. Hope this helps.

you can do it with the mini tweaker but the game won't allow less than 1 second on opening the doors so the firing by default must be more than 1 second or you blow yourself up.
you can speed it up a little by setting firing to 1.1 instead of the stock 1.5
this would feel like instant firing when hitting the button. preopening the doors speeds things up a lot as well.
opening closed door = 1 second / firing = 1.1 second > launching torpedo = 2.1 seconds
preopened door = 0 / firing = 1 second > launching torpedo = 1.1 seconds

Oh, its just the delay in the message?
Cuz if I open the tube.. cycle to the next tube open that.. I get two of the "opening tube 2" messages.
I'll check out the tweak file that I have for it. Thanks.

From what i'v seen in war movies and docs. i think they should open slower...
Say;Cmdr gives order to chief of the torpedoes-room,he gives order to the men,they start opening the doors(manualy),doors open and locked,chief reports Cmdr.
But that other issue,closing the doors as in SH3,how about that?

My issue isn't the speed in which they open, its that I want to be able to give the order to open all of them.
When I cycle through the torpedo tubes, I have to wait for the acknowledgement. It takes a few seconds.
In SH3, I could cycle through them very fast to open the tubes.

in sh3 you go to torp cont cntr and select full spread, then hit open door key and it opens all doors together.

Just a side note: This appears to be fixed/improved in 1.3, the lag between hitting the open key and the message being displayed has been removed. The torpedo tubes will also stay open until fired. :)
