after i download a mod can someone please tell me how to get it on silent hunter IV. thanks;)
Well, it really depends on the mod. First, you usually have to unzip the archive file (probably either .zip, .rar, or .7z) or run a .exe. If you had an archive file, you usually either paste the files into the appropriate folder or use JSGME (which automatically does it for you if the mod has the right file tree). Sometimes, files need to be edited as well - this is almost always easily done with a simple text editor like Wordpad or Notepad. One thing though - if you have to replace files and are not using JSGME, make sure you save copies of the files you are replacing; I usually save at least one blank installation of both SHIII and SHIV just in case I need some vanilla files back later but it will suffice just to save the files which are going to be replaced. If you are using JSGME, it will automatically rollback the files for you if you need to do so.:yep: EDIT - I've been away for awhile though, and I'm not sure if JSGME is ready for SHIV yet.
Maybe someone else can add some more specific instructions if they like.:hmm:
Also, instructions usually come with each mod though and are fairly straightforward.
Hope at least some of this is useful.

ag124 covered all the basics for you so give specifics about what your question is.
not all downloads are the same but it is usually only a matter of getting the right program to unzip it.
we need to know what your problem is so we can help.

the problem is i just downloaded a mod and now im stuck i dont know what to do its a rar. file
miner1436 the easiest way to install any of the mods is with JSGME. 99% of the mods on this forum are set up to use this program to install the mods. Look in the sticky for the mods list to find out where to download JSGME. There is a readme file with it that explains how to use it.
Basically you put JSGME in the root directory for the game. Run it once and it creates a "MOD" folder, this is where you put the mods you want to install. Then run it again to install or remove a mod.
Hope this helps
Jim
PS In the same Mods list there is a unzipping program for rar, 7z, & zip files.

this is a freeware version of rar file unzipper, just click on the link.
most mods have this type compression so you really need this.
