forgive my simplistic view about this, i know nothing about hex editing or programing or reading code.

how hard would it be to simply change the sh3 mini tweakers file search feature so it is looking in sh4 as the default location for game files instead of the sh3 folder? why hasn't anyone done this?

wouldn't this in effect create a sh4 mini tweaker and allow a seperate set of sh4 tweak files to be used?

the modding community could then go through all the sh3 tweak files and convert the tweak file pathways to look for the file locations used in sh4.

this would make creating a complete set of sh4 tweak files for everything much easier to do would it not?

i believe the creation of a complete set of sh4 tweak files and a sh4 mini tweaker is the most important thing we need to enable all the wonderfull modders out there who have the ideas but not all have the skill to do things the hard way.

The original SH3 minitweaker uses some sort of protection so u can't hexedit it, nor was I able to hook it... The idea was to force it to use some sort of cfg file which could point to the SH4 install folder... No luck from this side... Maybe someone else could give it a go...

taken from the mini tweaker read me:

-------------
THE PROGRAM
-------------
SH3 Mini Tweaker is a simplified GUI program interface for changing general hex
game variables for Silent Hunter III.

seeing this made me think it was a simple program that would not be hard to do a version for sh4 as well.
