Okay what I did was go by the big game map that it came with and the times in the game it says things happens and I changed all the Airbases to Competent because they were all set at Veteran Except Tokyo and Takao's I left them Veteran's. Also I put Small airbases on the small Islands because it makes sence in the original set up there are no small airbases used. I am not saying this is historicly acurate but it works better with what our game maps show and with what actualy happens in the game events and briefings.

For example wake Island now starts off with a US Airbase and then changes to a JAP airbase when they took the island then it changes back to a US Airbase again when we took the Island back.

Added an Air base to Pearl.

Also set up the Solomans with the change between Japan and American Airbase acording to the game On the Island with the Honiara port.

Also eliminated the extra airbase in the game between tokyo and the Island south west of it, Shikoku, because it is not on our maps.
Moved the airbase from Makung Port Island to Formosa as on our maps.

Set a US airbase for Luzon up until we lose the island then it goes to a Jap Base
then towrds the end when we take back Luzon it changes to US again if we ever get that far into the game.

Added the other airbase for Balikpapan from the map it was missing and changed the intrance time to corispond with when the Jap's took Borneo.

For Java and Singapore added British Air Base's until the Jap's take both places then it changes to Japan again.

Around Austrailia I did away with the US Airbases and put in British ones also did that for Port Moresby so you can see British planes as well once you set them up with the planes I converted from the SHIII game.

So now while you are stationed at Manilla you will see American planes and then when you change to Java and Freemantle and or Brisbane you will see British planes but there are still some American planes scripted in a file to fly around Austrailia so you will see them too.

[Anyways this is JSGME ready but you do have to be in a Port docked for this to work other wise the game crashes and or won't load because it effects all the airbases.]

For me if it were not for the other Modders out there especialy the early ones,
None of this for me would be possable.

Captain Cox
Ducimus
NDrifter
Beery
Kakemann
Kosh
Krupp
jimimadrid
DarkShip
LukeFF

There are many others as well no offence to any of you because without all of you,
we would have a generic Sim copy to play and with out your help in explaining things to me over time I never would have done anything but played with your Mods and enjoyed everything without contributing back to the comunity.

Thanks to all of you and take care!

This sounds really cool - looking forward to maybe trying it out when I get back to port. It's only January 2, 1942 on my second patrol out of Cavite/Manila, and I've only seen one aircraft so far (was crossing my bow at long range on my first patrol - dove to avoid detection so I have no idea what or whose it was), but anything that improves the aircraft arrangements and has them reflect historical/operational realities sounds great to me. One question - I'm running RFB 1.28 - does this mod change anything that RFB changed, or is it compatible with RFB without having to do some sort of merger thing?

The island with Honaria (which didn't exist during the war) is Guadalcanal. There was never an active japanese airbase there, we took it before it was finished. Across the sound to the north there was a floatplane base, which was taken as well when we landed.

But if he did change the Jap_AirCover or US_Aircover files and include them in his MOD this will over write them once you install it. I looked at his 2.3 one and saw nothing on these 2 files.

And yes I know that is Guadalcanal and that ended up being Henderson Field when we took that Island. Then the Jap's had another airfield further north west on another Island for a bit as well until we took control of that as well.

But the briefings we have in port show both Air Bases so I put them in the game and the change over to US Airbases as well.

But as I stated in my first post this works more into what the game says in briefings and has in maps that came with the game. The game isn't perfect and neither is this or I but it is better than what was originaly set up. And at least now the Jap airbases are not always sending out Veteran Planes like every air base was set at.

Anyone is more than welcome to do more research and fine tune when Airbases came into play in real life just tryed to make it all work a little better Tater.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to sound annoying!

You are right, there were several jap air dromes up the Slot. Buin, Munda, etc.

It just makes it easier for me when the game actualy reflects what we get for messages and are shown in briefings and what is on our Maps that came with the game and I thought it might help others as well because with having things in places that arn't even on any map sucks when your trying to plan out how to approach a mission point. Plus face it having every plane always being on target sucks so at least with reducing the AirBase's rating it also helps.

I like the idea of having to fight or dive with planes it adds to the game just didn't like them always comming right at me.

Right now I am trying to have our sub's navigation maps show us where the Airbases are so we can always have the info right there. With color changes from red to blue. [WIP]

If I can make it work with the Airbases I will do the same with the ports as well.

FYI if anyone didn't know In the Airstrike file when you change the figures for this:
"Enemy Air Strike Probability Increase on Radio Messages Sent=50

It also causes the escorts of a near by convoy or task force to react and make them go into a zig zag manuver. So if they sudenly start to do that after making a contact report that also means an AirStrike is inbound.
I have tested this more times than you can imagine and they definatly work together with radio messages which I think is an awsome feature and adds a lot of realism to the game. the higher the number the better chance of them reacting so it is best to report a contact at night if you have a high value. The default 30 was too low for me almost never got a reaction.
