View Full Version : Flooding
Hi! Simple question: when I hit the bottom with a sub and I cause my torpedo room to be flooded ("flooding in torpedo room, port side!") what's security depth I can rest while the damage is being repaired?
I know that if I rest on surface it's ok, and if I remain to actual depth my sub will "dead" soon or late without any advice...
thanks
As far as I know damage does not reduce maximum depth in DW.
ok, sorry, my fault...
yesterday i've hit the bottom then my torpedo room started flooding and after some time i simply "dead"...maybe i've hit the bottom again...
thanks

To bottom a boat sucsessfully you must first get down to about 2 or 3 meters (about 9 feet) from the sea floor and then ring down all stop.
Once you have done that wait for the submarine to stop drifting and acctualy wait for the speedometer to read 0 knots then click at least 50 meters depth below the sea floor so if the sea floor was 350 meters i would click 400 meters that will anchor you to the see floor and you should not sustain any damage what so ever.
To move off just set your depth back up make sure your fully clear of the bottom before you move off otherwise your back end will dig into the mud and you will recieve damage.

Out of curiosity what submarine class do you use?
ah, thanks...i was making some test about flooding and if i need to surface to repair it.
i'm strange, i know :D
The simplest way i've found to provocate flooding was hitting the bottom twice. with first hit i receive damage to mast and with second hit i finaly provocate flooding...
well, when i'll need to softly touch the bottom i will follow your suggestion...
in that test i used the seawolf...

To be honest i can only recall two instancies where i have caused flooding this is since SC came out once when i hit the USS Rhode island and another time when the USS John C Stennis ran me over.
another question: does the bottom type affect damage caused by hitting the bottom?

If its mud or sand then you can bottom the boat , mud is often alot harder to get out of when moving off but its still ok.
Rock well doesnt take albert einstien to work out that you will probably inflict damage.
