Didn't see this mentioned before, so thought I'd throw it out there for those who might be interested.
When you identify a ship in the recognition manual, the name of the ship shows up in the position keeper. Thereafter, the ship name pops up in the PK every time you swing the scope over the identified target. It's another aid, just like the target triangle. To add just a little more depth to the captain's tracking/fighting experience (especially at night), you can get rid of it.
In the menu_1024_768.ini file, find this section of code.....
[G42 I43]
Name=Target name
and insert the following line.
Color=0x00
That's it. This same idea may be useful to remove other text aids in the sim (like auto screw recognition in the sonar panel). Don't know yet.
