GWX - Installation help needed - Please

I had GW 1.01 installed on my SH3 and during a recent surf of the net I saw that the newer 1.03 version was out so burnt it to a disk, and it was "home james" to the PC.

I basically uninstalled SH3, deleted any careers I had and reloaded it. Added on the 1.4 patch and then installed the GWX over that.

GWX gave a warning saying that I need to install over a clean SH3 which is what I thought I now had. Installation went on and when I launched the game it starts to load and then bingo up pops a warning that SH3 needs to "Debug".

* Can anyone help me out in basic PC terms as to what I need to do?
* Can I be directed to links if needs be?

If the GWX installer warned you that your version of SH3 was not clean you shoudln't have installed it at all. Ideally try to re-install SH3 patch it and make sure it's working. After that try GWX 1.00 and see if you still get the warning.

I know it's not what you want to hear but it will save you possible bugs and CTDs later on.

jimbuna made it as simple as it can be explained. do what he said to fix your problem.

i would only add that you should reboot after step 2 and before reinstall.

i you did that and it did not work then let us know about it.

Make sure delete your existing SHIII installation folder so as to remove everything in it before you make a clean install of SHIII or the install will not be clean if you see what I mean.

Delete / move the maps in 'My Documents/SH3/' also, it solved my problems with installing :)
