Hi Everyone,
I am sure we all agree UBI drop the ball and released the SH4 a little early. I have an idea however that I sure would take this game to new heights, however I do not have the skills to do any mod work. After doing some research and the fact I am a WWII history buff I find that this game lacks one thing, ship classes. How can you attack Midway without keyships being in the game???

Heres alist of ships

United States

1. US light Crusier Pensacola class +1 Salt Lake City
2. BB Nevada and Pennsylvania
3. BB New York and BB Texas
4. BB Wyoming and Arkansas
5. BB South Dakota Class +3 Indiana,Massachusetts and Alabama
6. CVL Independece Class +8
7. CV Essex Class + ?
8. CV Ranger
9. CV Langley
10. CV Wasp
11. CV Yorktown
12. CV Lexington +1 Saratoga

Japanese

1. Cruiser Tone +1, Chikuma
2. Crusier Aoba +1, Kinugasa
3. Cruiser Nagara +5, Abukawa,Isuzu,Kinui,Natori,Yuri
4. Cruiser Asama +1, Tokiwa
5. Following are carriers

Akagi
Kaga
Ryujo
Kaiyo
Soryu
Unryu
Shinyao
Shinano

The talent is here anybody feel this is worthy task?

I would say that in trying to come up with a list, the USN ships have to come last. A submarine just won't see them that much, they are window dressing.

As for the japanese types, yeah, there are a number of classes missing.

Unryo and sisters are basically improved Soryu Class (like Hiryu in game, so Soryu is already there). The US CV in game IS Wasp, so that is there.

I'd honestly think that what would be most needed for the japanese would be small shipping (~1000 tons and under), a Matsu DE, and a Kaibokan.

Such a list really needs to be prioritized based on what will be most likely to be seen by a submarine as a target, or adversary. The small shipping that was turned out in the hundreds and thousands of ships after '43, and the small escorts that were used later in the war would clearly be at the top of the list, IMO.

Many games have limited units vs RL, and the usual solution is for stand-ins to be used, and it works. Many of the IJN DDs, for example, are merely evolutionary changes on earlier designs. So substitutions there are fine, the ships look identical.

USS Wasp is already in the game as US early aircraftcarrier.
