View Full Version : [NOTE] SH4 Atlantic-Mod really needs YOUR HELP!

we have a real dangerous lack of people! and the opinion of some people, stated this a SH3 improvement, is the reason for double posting it in the two sections. so admins, please do not delete or move this thread! thank you.

PLEASE NOTE THIS:

if we do not find more skilled and willed people, who want the graphical improvements from SH4 used in SH3, the future of the mod is unknown. at the moment we have 4 people who actually work on this mod, which in my opinion would be a really great improvement for ALL of us. but 4 people who also have a real life, are not enough to get this project done.

the critics of using other mods and the forum language, are already beeing recognized and solved. there is NO usage of other mods and the forum language is actually ENGLISH!

so if you are well interested in german uboat warfare and like the graphics of SH4, feel welcome! please think about taking part in our project, WE NEED YOU.

Is this turning SHIV into an Atlantic theater or is it taking SHIV graphics to incorporate into SHIII?:huh:
If it is the first then I, and a lot of others are waiting for the 1.3 patch, if the latter I and other, have allready done some very good improvements!:yep:

both ;) we use sh4 as the basekit. we decided it is easier to implement the sh3 elements in sh4 than the other way round. and we want the sh3 theater/scenario.

Urfisch, I've been quietly following your effort with this mod. I like the idea, I'd want to be part of it, but - apart from tinkering some values in config & ini files - I have no advanced modding skills (neither 3D rendering, nor programming skills). This is why I did not register on your forum, but I'd really like to see your conversion succeeding. However, I think I could give you a bit of advice about advertising your project. If you want to attract talented people in your project, try to make it as enticing as possible to the modding community, advertise some of your present achievements (even in this skeleton crew you still must have something to put on table after 2 months of work). Instead of vaguely saying "we want to convert this into that", spell it loud and clear: we already achieved this and are pursuing that. Our next step is ... (you name it). Thus, maybe the great modders of this community will come with ideas like "Oh, but I know what you should do to achieve this."

Effort is "dream of dreams"...
You will soon realize that heaps of people are willing to participate... but 3% of them have sophisticated moding skills to achieve some news!
So it will depend on these few artist's willing to neglect daily obligations; work, family, spare time, ...

I really love the idea of this mod... but I'm skeptical on whether it can be implemented fully.

It goes without saying, that this is probably a much larger task than GWX, and a LOT of work went into GWX.

While SH4 isn't even working properly it's proabably not going to be very easy. I hate to be a pessimist, but are you sure you will be able to do the essential things? Not being able to do one single thing can be a showstopper.

This could be things like not being able to port over the German TDC system or
not being able to make the sub interior work properly.
Are you sure everything that needs to be done to achieve this mod is possible? Maybe there are some things no amount of hard work can implement.
