Since the first(better:the few first months)mission a commander takes out of Pearl Harbor he should be confronted with some USN-wrecks in the port...

An idea for a mod?
(if one has the talent :know: )

Why can't we try to set good examples for ecology in war games. :nope:

We do! We call them fish but they look suspiciously like torpedoes;)

Be nice to see  , I am sure it will become part of a much larger mod down
the road :yep:

This is a good idea for a mod, but we should wait until we get the Colorado Class BB with the 1.3 patch.

There is so much wrong with the way Pearl is modeled I can hardly fathom it. This should be the view from the Navy Yard on 8 Dec:

Why you start in the Navy Yard and not at the submarine base is beyond me...
On thing I noticed when sinking ships in shallow Japanese harbors, the wrecks had a tendency to migrate 1-1.5nm per day. I don't know whether anyone else has had this experience, but it might pose a problem for positioning wrecks at Pearl. Don't know why this would happen.

a good database on PH,even showing when wrecks where removed:

Speaking of which, someone needs to mod the terrain so that the sub pens are in the correct place ... if that is possible.

Yeah, lets sink more boats and watch them become underwater havens for sea life.

This is great news! I'll go back to starting my missions at Pearl if this can be worked out.
Can you imagine the motivational factor on this?
The sad thing is it is so bloody easy to find period images of PH, and SH4 and PF both grossly botched it.
Oddly, the biggest problems are that they (in both cases) did too much. It's like they thought it kept needing more stuff. "Hey, that looks too empty, throw some cranes in. Yeah, now THAT looks like a port!"
Then there is tha absurdity that is Midway.
Less is more.

Maybe an "all real harbours" mod could be created....once...:nope:
If the 3d objects that make up harbors could be extracted, removing items would be an easy fix for some areas.

So, looking at that picture, where does the game currently start us from, and where should we start from?

You start where the Argonne or the Cummings are docked, bottom center. The submarine base is bottom right, between the Sumner and the Pelias.
Here is a good picture of the submarine base:

The U-shaped building in the center is the Pacific Fleet HQ.

The amazing thing is that a quick google shows many images taken of PH in October and November, 1941.
My peeve with how awful PH looks in game is that they obviously spent a lot of work building the PH harbor objects. If t had been built with a few standard object they already had, I might complain a little, but they went to TROUBLE to make PH so terrible.
The same is true of Midway. Again, had they stuck a very small pacific harbor object on, that'd be it. that's what they had to work with, wasn;t worth the effort to decorate every single little atoll realistically. But no, they actually built 2 substantial custome objects for Midway, both of which are horrible and nothing close to reality—and reality is a few clicks on google away. (and NOT google earth since we don;t really way 2007 versions, do we?)

Notice that there are two, yes count them two, cranes in that shot: 1 at the Navy Yard and 1 at the drydocks.
There has got to be a way to fix Pearl...

yeah, and have the defualt starting position there at the subbase instead of at the 1010 dock. how cool!
Well, if TWO cranes is good, and looks like PH, then TWENTY will look even MORE like PH!
;)
