Be nice to have  The radar mod that AVG posted is a nice one if you don't already have it.

I stand corrected! I do not believe anyone has worked on this yet. It is rather blurry:oops:

My hero!
The UBI boys and girls apparently stated (I read somewhere) that "they" were going to make the sonar station more user friendly. If that is so I'll wait to see if it works before attempting to hi-res the station. Right now I don't even go there. :damn:
I would like to be able to turn my sound man and radar man off. If I am to dumb to send them to their stations I deserve to be blown out of the water.

oakgroove, one small request:
if you do release this mod, could you please change measures in the left "range" part from yards to meters?
So, instead of 500, it would be 455 etc.
Thanks

1 yard = 0.9144 m
P.S.
I guess, for those poor bastards that are using imperial, you could do feet version.
Julius Caesar - can do.:yep:
Just make sure the meters texture is an optional installation and not the default texture in your mod.

why not both ?
why not both ?
I never said not to have both. I meant that the default installation of the mod should have the historically correct texture in imperial units and the "optional" one to be the one in metric.
Where is file for Sonar Station? Tex etc. I would like to take a shot at cleaning it up just a bit.

Wouldn't it be great if the SH1 Sonar and Radar Suite could be added to SH4:yep:

Ummm... yes!
Screw this 3D stuff... give me clean, high detail 2D stations!

Common_Gauges_02.dds, located in data/textures/tnormal/tex.
I suspect Oakgroove is making a Bordinsturment style mod...(one of the first and best dial mods for SH3)
Am I right? Only he will know..

Is this still [WIP], Oakgroove? I was hoping for something exactly like what you showed in your screenshot there. Looks great in the screenshot already -- what's still "in progress" on it?

Um........................
I'm embarassed that I started this thread.
I was running SH4 with the low resolution graphics setting enabled. Switched to hi-res and everything's sharp and clear on those dials now. :damn:
Still, the sonar screen is one of the visuals that should always be sharp, even when on low res settings. So a mod would still be appropriate for always showing Sonar in hi-res.

I'm running in 1600x1200 with all the detail settings turned to max, and it's still pretty hard to read for me. The screenshots OakGroove posted of his "w.i.p" were much cleaner looking than what I see on my screen, at least.

:yep: the sonar station textures will be part of a larger replacement package...
I didn't put it on hold or anything, just want it to be as good as it can be. Reference material showing the instruments in their original WW2 config. is scarce. The more grateful i am that Gino generously offered his help and expertise on some details.
Still some work to do, but you'll get the idea:

yummy, oakgroove!
If you release, I hope we will be able to use only parts of your mod

Wow, this is looking most excellent. Great work OakGroove.

OakGroove, any way you can make a new range scale for the deck gun that is calibrated in yards?

A small update; things are progressing well! Just finished the common dials, 2D Periscope/TBT overlays. Next up is the TDC (Interior) , with the material Gino provided i should be able to complete that rather soon. Once finished, and the results satisfy me, i'll send a preview package his way.
@Julius Caesar, there's going to be 3 packages selectable from within jsgme:
- Textures for 3D interiors
- Textures for 2D Periscope/TBT overlays
- Textures for Optics
@LukeFF, i don't know here the parameters for the range scale are located ... .ini, .dat?

That, unfortunately I don't know. Perhaps a coding genius like Anvart might be able to help you with that?
One other question for you: have you been able to get rid of that funky text that shows up in certain areas? (e.g., "hohwaie eas," or whatever it says )
