Hello there,

I've heard of a mod that makes it so ship windows glow at night. So that you are able to see them from a distance away. Someone told me it is in the NYGM 2.2 mod, I've downloaded that to take a look in the folders but I can't find it.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks :sunny:

Hi and welcome aboard

Its not a mod to do that but the actual ships are lit
Anvart did them

http://hosted.filefront.com/Anvart/1872165

You will need to make campaign file changes for them to be seen though

They are also in GWX
Probably WAC too

Hey thanks wooly.

Which of those files do I download? And can I get this to work in a mulitplayer skirmish?

Thanks very much.. :D

unless the merchant belonged to a neutral nation they traveled under black out conditions... even one lit window would serve as a beacon to a u-boat.

GWX has ships that are well lit up but they are neutral.

I think that it would be nice of GWX to have the american ships remain lit well until march or april of 1942.

US ships are lit until they enter the war
Majority anyway as not all ships have both versions

@Stever R
As I mentioned in the reply you will need to amend the campaign layers before they are seen ingame correctly
PITA and very time consuming
Believe me I know

For MP all players need the same install so no CTD
So whatever you change on yours the other players will have to have too

i guess what i meant was US ships on the US east coast should remain lit until a couple of months into 1942... i have read that this was often the case - ships not traveling in black out on the coastal areas.

That's a very important point to consider when using GWX. Until a few days ago I thought that all neutral ships were lit. Man was I wrong. My campaign is now in late 1941, and I stalked a pair of small freighters at night near Freetown. They both were blacked out, so I considered them enemy ships and started shooting with the deck gun. Then as expected they lit me up with flood lights and I got a glimpse at the Brasilian flag. Immediately checked with the Friend or Foe list (F1) and found that Brasil doesn't become an enemy until 1942. So I held my fire and disappeared. Luckily I didn't sink it.

Same here....hit a Large Tanker in a convoy that was blacked out.... Just as my torps hit him I external camera'ed to him (sorry its cheap but I LOVE seeing my torps hit, and lifeboats with the Lifeboat mod) only to see an American flag....Doh  ...Bdu was not happy with me :nope: :nope: :nope:

Well he would be blacked out in a convoy
Neutral or not
If he was lit up would act as a beacon to all so no one showed lights esp neutral shipping
