Hello
does enybody think it would be good to make a typhoon class
sub for sh3 or sh4 even though the typhoon class is a modern day russian
sub and sh3 and sh4 is set back in world war 2 plus the typhoon.
Is nuclear powerd and is the biggest class sub in the world i think.
And it is bigger than some battel ship's.
Does enybody think it is worth it?:hmm:
To make a mamoth model for the two games.

I don't think you will find loads of people who will agree with this. Most people try to keep it as close to reality as possible. If you want projects like that you should contact Mush Martin (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/member.php?u=229009).
Come to think about you are right.
Even though it would be cool to have a sub bigger than a ship.
You shold serch the sub on google images.
just to take a look. It is really massive
it is well worth looking at though.

I recently started an "experimental" career in a TypeXXI (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=113847), the closest thing to a Typhoon-class we have in SH3.
I also found a great skin for your purposes:

No, it's not the biggest...in fact, the IX-C's are 0.1m longer.:D
But it's the most advanced uboat of the war, allthough it never saw combat (because the Germans were to late).
If you want to know more about this uboat-type, then go here (http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2003/11/detail_uboot_xxi.htm).
Check my previous link for bugs and quirks.
Well I am not personally interested in a Typhoon, which I can already drive in Sub Command thanks to SCU, but if you can do 3D models and want to do the biggest submarine of WW2, you would make a lot of people happy doing a Narwhal class sub for Sh3/4 (Hint, hint....):D

If IIRC the I 400 had like a tube the watch crew dived into that would take them down to the control room as was such a long way down
Will have to find that info again
EDIT
Found it
Another of I-400's noteworthy design features was the long vertical trunk leading down from the conning tower outside the hangar to the control room. With a diving time of 56 seconds, the bridge watch leaped into spectacular action on the command Clear the Bridge! The lookouts had to jump down the conning tower hatch, then hurtle through this long tube to man their diving stations in the control room 25 feet below (Figure 3). To cushion the landing impact a three foot thick canvas hassock was positioned in the control room at the foot of the conning tower ladder.

Imo, no.
I play SH3 for the time period and type of boats of interest. I mean we get to torpedo jazz, hunt and be hunted. Sailing around in a sub designed for M.A.D. doesn't scratch the nads for me.

What a bunch of uncharasmatic bores!
Sometimes its good to kick back and have a laugh to do something purely fun!
God! Having a great big whopper sub like that could be just the thing to have a laugh with after a long patrol. It is possible to play SH3 and really play it like back in the day as well as play it just for sheer carnage destruction fun.

Well for my two cents I think that if you really wanted to do it
the best way would be to try and take the I 400 from SH4 and
make it into a driveable (inevitably with an american interior)
assuming you got that far you could Uberize the I400 as is then
or develop the serious 3d modelling skills to convert it, however
with those skills you could convert any sub you chose I suppose.

Absolutely. Since the Typhoon is a boomer with 20 SLBMs with a total of 200 warheads, you can effortlessly wipe out London, New York, Washington and every major city in the US, while the Hunter Killer Groups are having a hard time trying to keep pace with you at 27 knots and a depth of 400 meters :rotfl:
Why can't we have a laff if we want to blow up things .We can if i owned a typhoon, i would go online and kill some people for a messaround.:rotfl:

Well, recently I've made some sort of a nuclear torpedo mod, just for my own purposes and with the aim only to destroy capital ships. Soon I've started to use it against convoys. Well it was interesting experience, but the whole SH3 atmosphere has gone. No more hit and run tactics, no more 3 hours sneaking between dephcharges ("DD water boiling" as I say) :-? , just extermination. The whole atmosphere was gone in the process. So, I"ll rather stick to SH 3 boring reality :yep:.

There's no point hurrying to get the mission over with, because there's another mission right after that, and another. The fun of this game is in the realism. For me to actually spend hours or even days of my real life time tracking a convoy, striking escaping and going back in. If your just wanting tonnage, this game will get boring fast. I have more fun sneaking away from 3 angry Black Swans and popping an eel into one of them an hour or two later than I have ever had nailing some unsuspecting merchie.

1.nope, nobody will do this #1 it's cheap and #2 it's a big mod for such a little result... oh cool, i have a big sub.... oh boy.... and that's the end of the fun
2. a typhoon isn't bigger than a battleship
and 3. well, lets see... some people use commas and periods during writing...
this guy is even picking on me writting now jees...:rotfl:
and you said the typhoon isn't bigger than a battle ship too bad if you serch google for snaps of the sub you might find one i had a snap of one in the water against the side of a battle ship and the hull lenth has about a good 5m more lenth by the look of it enyway but have a good look on google though.
and even if i did have a big sub i could blow you out the water with on shot and i could just chose to run off and in the little uboat you would have no chance really think about it enybody would be sunk:help:

I'm not gonna 'nit pick' on your writing skills :nope:
But please allow me to advise you of some details in response to your statements around comparability of the Typhoon and Battleships. ;)
Battleships come in a variety of shapes and sizes and seeing as how you have chosen a modern submarine I have chosen one of the latest WWII era vessels which also happens to still be around today.
Length...............Typhoon 175 metres........................................ Iowa 271 metres
Beam.................Typhoon 23 metres......................................... Iowa 33 metres
Displacement.......Typhoon (submerged) 48,000 tonnes.....Iowa (fully loaded) 58,000 tonnes

I'm sure there are ships classified as battleships that are smaller than the Typhoon, and as Jimbuna has shown, there are some bigger. Size is no reliable indicater of strength. Look at the midget subs used in WWII. They had some success, and they are tiny. Size means you can carry more weps and food, but a single torpedo with a good sized warhead can pop the shaft seals and send you to the bottom no matter how large your sub is.

i started out on bungie.net, i can't help it....
where did you find them stats on the typhoon they are cool:up:
plus putting the typhoon against the iowa even though the iowa is the sister ship to the mighty'mo that is a bit unfair. Plus i was talking more of a pocket battel ship like the admiral graf spee.Even know it is 5m longer plus put it up against the hms argonaut even know it is just a cruiser and the typhoon is about 10to20m. Longer I think still i would like the sub just cos it is like nothing else on the game.

You know, there is a certain group of people I just don't like. I'm sure many people feel the same as me. For some it's people of a certain skin color, for others it's people of a different religion or sexual orientation. For me, it's the people who come onto forums like this and start spouting off childish, and utterly stupid crap. Personally, I don't care what your feelings are about others, like them or hate them. But to come in here and post this stuff, ruins my enjoyment of this forum.
This forum is one of the few places I have been able to go online and speak with people from all over the world, I'll bet we have at least one of every single type of person on this forum. Statements like the one above, while they may be legal, go against what this forum is all about. People coming together for the enjoyment of one or more games.
Before you open your mouth about things like this U-168, just consider. Sometimes it's better to close your mouth and let people think what they want, rather than open your mouth and prove your ignorance.

U168 seems like a young fella. Thats fine. But dont go sprouting off talk like that, you'll only offend someone. Why don't you like gays - they're human beings, they come in every size and colour... nothin to be afraid of or anything else. Try opening your eyes and see the big wide world rather than making silly comments like that.
Anyways, rather than guilding a typhoon (which i think would be impossible to do anyway?) if you're after some good arcade style fun, why not mount some 16 inch cannons as a deck gun on a type VII boat? Then take on a flower class and see how long they last! decimate the convoy in happy times, all with your massive 16 inches of deck gun.:rotfl:
If you're really after a typhoon tho, play a modern sub sim.

There were once two bulls standing in a paddock. One was a young fit bull who was full of beans and the other was a wily old bull who had been around the paddock for quite a few seasons.
Anyway one day they were standing in the shade of an old gum tree that stood on a hillock in one corner of the paddock, watching a herd of cows standing in the opposite corner chewing their cud nibbling grass and generally doing what cows do when they are not engaged in being milked.
"Hey! lets run over and shag one of those cows!" said the young bull.
"No son, lets slowly walk over and shag the lot!" said the old bull.
The moral of the story?
