I don't remember hearing Seagulls, or ship fog horns. I went through the Sound file, Sh.sdl and found the following files missing...

I'm using the Ultimate sound MOD I found here and have been busy re-compressing and converting sound files. I have completely re-constructed the entire sound folder! It is somewhat smaller and mainly mp3's now. I nailed down the looping effect when comming out of "time warp", (end of the crash dive sound repeated). I have also discovered problems with the CBS NEWS RADIO Mod and I believe I have solved those as well.

I hope to release a new mod, Super Radio soon but I want to be sure...

Are these files orphins or does someone have a better Sh.sdl file I can borrow
(or have?)...

I only have a limited understanding of how this game works. But I have discovered it is using very large sound files. I have compressed some to 10 percent their origonal size with very little (if any), quality loss and they WORK! I hope this will release some memory as the game runs...

Even though the Mod weighs in at over 2 Gig, it includes the entire reconstructed sound folder and 12 old Radio stations.

CBS (106mb)
BBC (30.6mb)
Superman (135mb)
The Shadow (184mb)
Tokyo Rose (88.5mb) gathered up that one myself!

- ect... all compressed to a smaller size. Sound files in the sound folder are 4.12mb now. That's all files included! Speech, (all folders) was 118mb. Now it's 58.3mb with all new ogg's. Some other files and folders are not smaller, some are alittle smaller and some are one third to 10 percent their former selves!

Do you think you can help me complete this Radio Monster? It is nearly as big as the game now? I wouldn't mind insuring that these orphin (if they are orphins), files be re-incorporated into the sound effects section of the SH.sdl binary file! ( if it is a binary file... )

Any advice or suggestions will do. I hope to upload it in a few days.

Thanx

I have heard plenty of seaguls - but only near land (as would be pretty true in real life too)

Creaks - have those as well here

I am still compressing some files, but I plan on testing it without these files. and see if I still hear the creak. I remember only one... I heard seagulls too, but I'm not sure if these were where they came from! Question is, is there a way to expand the allotment sizing for sound files. The tail-end of Ultimate Sound Mod's "Crash diveINT" gets stuck as an ambiant sound, looping. I would like to keep it in the game , but not if it will not stop playing the end continually after advancing the time compression, (+) & (-). Some mods replace several of these sound files with blanks, but sound or not they are still running in the background.

I have limited the length for background sound files to 15 seconds and I hope this solves the problem. Was thinking that if someone knew a bit about this one file, maybe we could attach a few sounds of our own.

Ever hear a clicking when you turn the periscope? It's in there. Just needed to increase the volume.

The water is too washed out for me as well... Looks like I'm watching a high-definition film on a low definition tv. Lots of white pixels, not much dark blue... I don't mind not seeing distantly under water, which we cannot really do, but I wish for blue water to come and "white-wash" this... stuff!

No calls or refrences in this file, so these particular files may be in the game code. I was just wondering if someone knew for sure.
