DESCRIPTION: (see screenshots)
New colours and modified textures to make the harbour in SH4 more realistic.
INSTALLATION: (USING JSGME) see a description and download JSGME here: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...2/m/3461029123
Copy all the files from the folder "Krillers terrain and harbour upgrade" to the "MOD" folder where you have installed Silent Hunter 4.
Run the program "JSGME.exe" and choose which mod you want to install, by clicking in the left window under "available mods", then press enable to install the mod, say yes to overwrite previous files from vers. 09
UNINSTALL:
Run the program "JSGME.exe" and choose which mod you want to uninstall, by clicking in the right window under "Activated mods:", then press disable to uninstall the mod you want, repeat the process for each mod you want to uninstall.
Version 1
New textures for sand and grass and rocks.
New trees which is not 100 m tall!
New white moon.
Version 0.9
New grey crane texture and corrected a wrong alphamap for the developers, so there should be no more red colour on the edge of the crane.
Modified the pier-texture a little so make it look like it has wood on the sides.
Version 0.8 - first release
Modified the pier texture to grey and some of the texture on the buildings.
Modified all the trees and made new sand textures in 256 x 256 pixels so the underwater scenes should run smoother now
Modified some of the soldiers to green so there should be no more anoying purple soldiers! ;-)
Modified Jeeps and truck and tanks a little.
Modified all the terrain textures a little to make them blend better with the rest of the mod.

Great work . The only thing that i dont like is the scale between the ship and the trees (is this stock) . The trees should be half there size. cheers . (edited to say half there size)

Yes you are right, the trees should be smaller allso compared to the buildings... I will try look into this. The trees is from SH4, I only edited the colour and shape a little.
A pelican is coming up! :lol: and maybe some nurses runing around instead of the soldiers? ;)

But that pic looks like Pine trees to me (North American style) I think the Asian fauna is a bit more jungle/palm trees etc. So i think the scale of the stuff in your pic's kriller2 looks just fine. Otherwise we gonna end up with what the stock seabed looked like. AFAIK Java and co never had any Redwood's :p
Are the textures that dark or do you have the gamma turned down, or is it the type of day? It all just looks a little dark is all. If it's the textures, I think they'd have to be a bit lighter, just my opinion.
Good job though. I've been thinking something needs to be done about the harbour textures.

Yes I have modified the colour of the soldiers, so no more purple soldiers in the harbours! :cool: :
And I allso gave the textures a little more brightness.

Thanks CptCox,The reason for calling it 08, is because it's still work in progress, I will try to add sailors, (does anybody know how to add more people to the harbour?) and the old SH3 tune (but in UK) when you leave the harbour would be great! :ping: , the name should have been 0.8 :oops: thats what happens when you are typing 1 o'clock in the night.. ;)

All these images were taken after the Pearl Harbor attack. Definitely an overall grey color, like the new peir texture, needs to be applied to the cranes.

I just tried converting the texture to greyscale, but then there is a strange red colour on the texture and I cant' get rid of it??? :o If you look closely on the yellow/white stock cranes there is some red colour where it shouldn't be :damn: , I will try to take a screenshot of it.

It's new texturemaps, but I think you can edit the objects like we did on SH3 with Pack3d.

Hi all subsimmers!
After alot of work I think this mod has finaly become version 1, here are some details, I will try to launch the mod this week!
- Modified the detail-textures and colour-shade of more of the textures.
- Made all the trees smaller except the palms, so no more giant trees ! :)
Alot of the textures is in highres this time so I think it demands a highend PC...

Nice job! Did you happen to give all the crane textures a going over so they don't have that modern-day look any more?
Why not the palms? With the other trees looking so much better, the palms really stick out as 10 stories high now.

It's beacuse I can only edit the textures and the palms are made of 3d-models, so no matter how small I make them they still have some loooong sticks connecting to the palm... Maybe someone can look into edit the length of the palms via hexedit or something? :ping:

Hi Tater, Yes that should be possible via the alpha channel... I did it on the grey cranes to discard the red squares from the devs cranes ;) hmm.. I don't know what you mean by "axe sme" ? but I can try make some of the trees even bit smaller ? :know:

The cranes on the very small ports. Make them INVISIBLE. No more cranes. The Lighthouse on the very small port, make it invisible---functionally that is the samer as removing the 3D object assuming the textures are per harbor object, and not generic to all harbor objects...

They probably all use the same texture, just resized. So any transparency work would transfer to the bigger ones too. You'd have to edit the harbour models themselves.

I have been examining the palms.dat in a hex editor, to see if I could make the palms object smaller, it worked okay in SH3 when we made the searchlightbeams longer in 3d But I can't do the same with SH4 :damn: anybody know how to edit 3d-objects in SH4?

Have to agree, excellent work all around here Kriller. Thanks for this! I now find myself wanting to actually go visit land and ports more frequently 'cause they look awesome now. (In stock SH4 I used to avoid them 'cause they hurt my eyes... :D )

I don't think so... unless the devs make changes to the way the objects are textured.

I just installed this over patch 1.3 and took a drive out of Pearl Harbor -- everythings looks to be working great so far, no issues to report.

That was exactly my question. I run the game @ 1152x864 @ 85Hz with most of the treats maxed out with no problem. Just wondering if these would put it over the top for my settings. :hmm:

I haven't made the textures bigger than the default, I just tried to make them more detailed, so there shouldn't be any FPS hit, I run the game fine with my old amd XP3200 and radeon 1950pro AGP on max.
By the way thanks for testing this mod on 1.3 and the feedbacks :up: I am curently on vacation, so I haven't tried this mod on SH4 1.3, but I can't wait to play SH4 when I get home...
