Hey guys

Seems I have a problem with the skins... And I can't figure how to fix it (I've tried, believe me...).

Right now I'm in Balao sub and I wanted to use REDFIN HI-RES Balao skin (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=538260&postcount=45) made by Captain Cox (thanks again for making this one for me, man!).

So I've made sure that my game didn't had any skins installed.
My Balao skin folder looked like this:

And my sub looked like the original one:
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/1245/01fe7.jpg

Ok, now I've installed (with help of JGSME) the REDFIN HI-RES Balao skin and it looked like EXACTLY like the original one...
The folder structure have also changed:

I've tried to change my settings from this:
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/7708/02ik9.jpg

to this:

As you've already understood, the result was completely the same... Nothing changed at all...

Now... Given that I got 3 new files in my skin folder (instead of replacing the old ones), I've tried to rename those new hi-res skin files to the filenames that was currently in use...

So I've moved the original NSS_Balao_O01_lr.dds / NSS_Balao_T01_lr.dds / NSS_Balao_T02_lr.dds to another folder and renamed
NSS_Balao_O01.dds to NSS_Balao_O01_lr.dds
NSS_Balao_T01.dds to NSS_Balao_T01_lr.dds
NSS_Balao_T02.dds to NSS_Balao_T02_lr.dds

Now I've reloaded my save game with the high graphic settings... Result:

As you can see, the tower isn't skinned at all (I guess it have to be changed in textures, I've tried to rename it in the same manner by adding _lr to the end of the file, but no luck) and the end rear isn't skinned to the end either...

I give up...

Does anyoone have a solution for that?

Maybe someone would try to install this skin and send me both the textures folder and skin folder (with balao files of course) just so I can try it here? I've looked in all of the save game files and in another files too, but I couldn't find WHY it takes the low resolution skin...

Nope, looks ok. I also compared my sub folder, unmodded/modded. No diff, the files are replaced like they should. Looks to me that maybe a clean install might be due :(. Are you running VISTA?...probably not hey :p

I know how to solve the conningtower problem.
The original download puts the tower files in

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Textures\TNormal\tex

Because you're PC is for whatever reason using low res textures you should place these dds files in

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Textures\TLowRes\tex

It think that will work.

Have you tried to select all options. Quit the game. then restart.
If that does not work. It must be in the cfg files somewhere..

I would do a fresh install with patch 1.2 and nothing more.
So far you're the only one with this problem.

@Captain Cox.. which cfg file tells the game what options to use ?

Sooner or later we will get it fixed for you !
Everybody deserves to play this great game in all it's glory !!

You're close to Rotterdam, Holland ? :D :D

Nope. Been there for 3 weeks, switched back to XP...

Yep, as said, I've tried nearly everything :| Quitting, restarting, rebooting, checking the cfgs (which ALL point to the normal files and NOT the low resolution ones...).

I'm from DK if you was asking me :p

*off to try it out!*

Well, the trick worked!

BUT!

When I've placed the CaptainCox's (god, i always think something bad when I see this nick :rotfl:) textures in the X:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Textures\TLowRes\tex folder and loaded the game, the tower was skinned, but the rest (the boat itself) was completely black...

So I went back to X:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Submarine\NSS_Balao folder and placed there NSS_Balao_O01.dds / NSS_Balao_T01.dds / NSS_Balao_T02.dds files from CaptainCox's (Gah! :rotfl:) redfin hi-res skin archive.

Reloaded the save game and everything is skinned as it should be... Geez... I have no intention to reinstall the game, but I would like to know what caused this... >_<

Anyhow, thanks for the help ppl!:arrgh!:
