I've seen some discussion about this previously but couldn't find the thread or what might have happened in the discussion. In any event, back in SH3 there was a long discussion about the possibility of having a German flag display on the U-boats (I think Anvart was one of the key folks playing around with it, IIRC), and I think I remember that it looked like it would be possible but there were some concerns about the fact that it might be visible all the time (even when submerged) and I don't think it ever got implemented in a mod as such.

I was gonna give this a shot, but I wasn't that good with the .tga files in SH3 and am totally out of luck so far with the new format files in SH4, so I decided just to ask here if maybe some of the folks who really know what they're doing might be able to whip this up.

Would someone be willing and able to create a revised periscope graphic that would have a broom attached to it, and that could be put into a JSGME-ready mod? That way, even if it's something that would always show up in game so you wouldn't want to keep it installed all the time, you could still save your game just before reaching port and then enable the broom mod via JSGME before loading up the saved game and returning to port, so you could pull into port proudly displaying your broom. It would look really cool in screenshots, plus it would give us a reason to sail on back into port, instead of just hitting the anchor icon and warping back to the office. Then you can always just de-activate it again via JSGME before heading out on your next patrol.

OK - admittedly a frivolous piece of eye candy, but hey - why not?

Yep - that's what I'm talking about - now, can that be made part of a skin or a periscope graphic or something that we can use in game? Surely someone around here is up to the challenge?
