Ok - who is this guy and where did he get that shirt?

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y96/Cladean/SH4-weirdshirt.jpg

I decided to start a new career given my upgrade to RFB 1.24 and all my other tweaks/mods. Picked a Salmon (actually, the Salmon) out of Manila starting on December 1, 1941, and headed out of port. One of the mods I had installed was the lower rank officer insignia, which had looked really good during my sub school tests the other night. However, when I started looking around my control room I saw the above guy and his weird shirt - certainly not regulation navy attire :nope:

I closed down, removed the insignia mod via JSGME and looked again, but got the same thing, so odds are I guess that it's not something that this mod did, but has anybody seen this before or have any idea where that shirt came from? looks gawdawful. Here's a list of all the mods I'm currently running - anybody see any likely culprits?

Tweaked RFB1.24 (replaced menu.ini and menu.txt with my tweaked versions)
Canadian Flag Fix
German Flag Fix
SmallerSeaPlant-Small
AHEAD 2-3 by Payoff
Bearing Tool (3000 Yards)
betterscopes 1.1 worn
jimimadrid's_shinyborder_Hud_1.21 for RFB
Kosh_Stealthy_Sub_v1.22a
Capt.Cox IMPROVED BOW WAVE (TRANS)
Fix_USTorpBomber
REAL MEDALS CLASSIC CREW
BOW-CONNING FOAM MEDIUM
CaptainMidnights_CBS Radio
Remove grainy PPF effect
Sky_Environment_Opt4

I was running all of these the other night when the uniforms and officer insignia looked fine, so I'm not sure what's going on - only thing I can think of is that I've recently tweaked the cameras.dat file to fix the binoculars clip distance thing so I can scan the horizon without obstruction - I wouldn't have thought that would screw up the crew uniforms from the view inside the control room, but maybe so - hmmm :hmm:

Update - I tweaked the binocs thing back to normal - no change. The it dawned on me to swap out other officers into that sopt on the crew management screen - when I did that, 4 out of my 5 officers looked like the picture above (1 LT, 2 JGs and 1 ensign), but the fifth officer (also an ensign) had a normal looking khaki navy uniform shirt on (rolled up sleeves) with officer insignia on the collars looking just fine.

Is there some way to get these other guys to have decent shirts, or check what kind they're going to have before leaving port? I've got a cameraman from Stars and Stripes on board for this patrol, and I want everybody to look their best here :D

Just read ur PM.

OK looks to me that the shirts are mixed up(now that's clear :p ). I obviously looked at the 5 textures pretty intensely when doing the Insignia mod. As you can see in the 1st post pic the arms have a white broad band on them, that's the shirt with rolled up sleeves, it also seem to put the collar and pocket from another shirt (darker khaki) on to a lighter one.

I wonder if you forgot to delete the "CrewMembers3D.upc" script inC:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\UPCData\UPCCrewData that the mod uses

that's the only script I know of that controls what clothes are worn on what character in the game.

But on the other hand...if you use JSGME that should have been unplugged with the textures...

Are you using VISTA by any chance?...had stuff happen like that in VISTA, unplug mods but some things hangs in the system (VISTA BUG or whatever one calls that)

I had similar weird happenings when doing the Insignia mod...I wonder if I fuked up somewhere in that script?. But I never had anything what you got in that pic, the only thing I got was rolled up sleeves with a long sleeve under it.

PS I might have to do some more testing with that lower insignia mod. But off to work soon, have to be tonight. If someone finds something please post.

OK, just a had a quick check in game, there is a problem with that script for sure. Got same as you in the 1st post. I simply deleted the whole "UPCData" folder. And at least the mod works for now. There must be a conflicting line I put in that script. As I said, will look at it later.

Thanks for checking into this - I don't use Vista and i just activated and de-activated the mod with JSGME so I hadn't messed with any "CrewMembers3D.upc" script or anything. I'll try deleting the whole "UPCData" folder for now till you figure out what's going on here.

[edit] - well, I was going to do that, but then I realized I still saw this issue after I de-activated the mod via JSGME, and I also noticed that there's way more in the UPCData folder than the mod seemed to put there, so now I'm really confused. Apparently a lot of the UPCData folder came from RFB 1.24. Even if what you meant was that you deleted only the whole UPCData folder from your mod, why would I still be seeing this after I de-activated the mod with JSGME?

[edit] the mystery deepens - just tried the new version 1.3 of the insignia mod, and the weird shirts are still there - must be something in my install that's gotten hosed up somehow - guess I'll try to manually replace the UPCData folder that's there now with the ones that came with RFB before re-activating the inssignia mod, and see if that helps.

Well - mystery eliminated if not solved - wiped out my old install and did a completely fresh install - tested it all the way up from Stock through RFB and the insignia mod, and everybody's shirts are looking just fine now in all those variations. Obviously just did too much tweaking on that old setup and hosed something up.

Live and learn

Well, sometimes a clean install is not a bad thing. Have done it a couple of times and always the game "seem" to run better :p.

I am sure there was some script errors in the previous insignia mod...or are you still using that?. As I said I had the same as you when I loaded that up yesterday.

Anyhow, should be fixed in the 1.3..I hope ;)

Now using the new version 1.3 and everything seems to be working like a charm now since the re-install - thanks again for your help - love those insignia on the collars
