Hy Guys
after having read almost on daily bss the threads ( since the last month almost ) i decided to register as i wanted to ask something myself as well, hoping that it hasn't been said before, in which case i am sorry in advance...

have bought SH4 since a couple of month and i really enjoy it a lot, and finally starting to get hold of the manual targeting system thanks to all the nice videos and helps that you guys gave !.
i have followed the advice of one of you guys and started in war patrols and missions before starting the real career....so let's see. presently i am around the philippines....

now coming to the question: i am aware of the "mods thread" and have checked what has been released. it looks to me many nice things have been done, but do you suggest me to download all those mods? besides the official updates which i downloaded, i would like to keep this game as serious and realistic as possible, so obvsly no super torpedos, infinite ammo...and things like that.

would you be able without taking too much of yr time,to tell me which ones would be the mods as a " must download" ( like maybe graphical updates/upgrades ) or other improvements in gaphics and gameplay but still keep it realistic ?

I have a very high end computer so no problem for improvements, i guess.

The game has only been out a couple of months but there are lots to choose from, in almost any area, gameplay, graphics, sound, interface, etc.

Best to get the Mod Enabler JSGME, it is located on the Mods Page, instructions to install mods with it are also there. Its a must if you are using mods.

I am using Trigger Maru 1.0, it is one of the larger mods that combines alot of the above :roll:. I also have Captain Midnights CBS News Mod, as well as the Silent Service Mod, changes intro movie, loading screens, great mod.

When I read your post.. I think RFB (Real Fleet Boat) will be your mod.
This mod is a mod that consist of several mods that adds realism to the game.

one of Trigger Maru (ex name Flavored To Taste) or Real Fleet Boat mods would be the answer i believe since both of them are involving many smaller mods in them (so that you will not have to track and d/l all the small mods seperatelly) and both of them is seemingly headed to be a supermode in time.. i suggest that you can check their readme's so you can judge which one suits better for you..
and i'd recomend you run extra silent and extra deep in case you want to mess with the evil DD's of Trigger Maru :arrgh!:

If you have any mods that uses the "scene.dat" this will conflict with it, and I recommend doing it yourself with the minitweaker!.

For those interested, i'll hopefully have version 1.1 of Tmaru up in the next couple days. Just some minor adjusments ive been wanting to make, and more randomization of special missions.

Hey Capitino Coxo, any chance you could put all those graphic mods you use into one compilation package as you certainly have an eye for all things pixel related.

Just an idea...not necessarily a good one I admit, but an idea all the same by jove!

I have to agree with Bane; the ones he posted as "must haves" really are. They don't change much of anything with regard to gameplay. Aside from the battery life mod, they simply change the appearance of the game to make it easier on you. The others are a matter of taste.
