View Full Version : Should there be duplicate entries in ship ID book with GWX?

Well, not quite duplicate. But close. For example, the "Tramp Steamer" has 2 entries. Identical picture, NEARLY identical stats, but a few are slightly off. Rolled back Sh3 Commander, and all mods in use, so...it's gotta be GWX-specific.
Is this intentional? If so...how do you determine which page of the ID book to use for targeting? In some cases of duplicate ships, there are rather important differences such as draft and length.

IIRC, I raised this question during Beta Testing & I'll be buggered if I can remember the answer.:rotfl:
Anyway, you can click on the word 'SHIP' in the targeting notepad on the OBS/PERI screen and be taken to the correct entry in the recog manual. (not sure if this works with 100%)

One set of figures are as set out in the ships folder, the other set are tweaked by the random tonnage feature
IIRC
Edit: Forget that....I misread the post. Is it not down to the Improved Recognition Manual ? :hmm:

Its because one ship is dark and one ship is lit

Prior to 1.03 (or was it 1.02?) some different ships were (deliberately) given the same name. This was changed so that, as BBW says, only lit/unlit variations carry the same name. The reason for teh change was that SH3 does not correctly display stats in the Museum if duplicate ship names are given.

BBW is right. The duplicated ships on manual is a side effect of the lit ships.;)
We tried to fix this but seems impossible. So, to have lit ships in game we will always have some duplicated entries on recognition manual.

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if they really WERE identical.
The problem is...they are ALMOST identical. Same ship picture, same name...sometimes wildly different tonnage...sometimes very different depth (IIRC., the two tramp steamers were 5.2 meters and 5.9 meters), etc.
In fact, I've seen no cases of identical pages that really WERE "identical". They all differ in some small amount in some trivial detail. Which then brings up the question of...which is accurate?

Good point!:hmm:
This really needs a workaround then...

Anyone have any other ideas on this?

They WILL be identical for the 2 different versions of the same ship in 1.04
Just fixed that

You probably know this site, but if not, here is a good source for modders.

Certainly promising!
However....that's still some ways away, isn't it? Months?
Any chance of posting just that 'fix' as a JSGME plugin?
