I read in the SH3Commander Documentation:

Simulated equipment malfunctions plus damage caused by sabotage - by Hemisent.
Simulates the effect of equipment malfunctions plus damage caused by sabotage by randomly reducing default equipment specifications. Editable through 'Randomised events.cfg' located in your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder. Should you not wish to experience equipment malfunctions or sabotage, ensure that the "Model effects" option is not selected. This feature is turned OFF by default.

I like the idea of Sabotage being in the game. I was just wondering what is affected in the game exactly? Is there a list somewhere of what can go wrong? If it is indeed random, what have fellow Kaleuns experienced?

I know my attack Periscope was all blurry one time. But, what else is there?

What's Sabotage for? Is it an ingame feature or a mod?

Engines - speed and fuel consumption
Batteries - range/endurance
Optical Scopes - time to clear vision
Flak Guns - reload times simulate jamming or misfires
Crash Depth - length of time to get under
Max Depth - crush depth
schnorkel - raise/lower times
Radar - drastically reduced range

Crash Depth - length of time to get under

^^ No wonder it felt like I was having depth control problems!

Is this sabotage done during assembly at a factory (slave labor)?

most acts of sabotage occured while using conscripted workers and non ethnic german dock workers at bases that were in other nations like Norway and France. Since so many working men of Germany were working for the war effort there was a labor shortage especially later in the war, this meant that sub pens often had to rely on french craftsman, engineers, mechanics and the like to service the submarine fleet.

Though acts of sabotage hit some bases harder than others and the problem was not rampant... many boats were frequently sabotaged in some way or another. Hans Goebler's book "Steel boats Iron hearts" points out several cases of sabotage to his boat and others. From bearings and seals being soaked in acid, to small holes drilled in the fuel and oil tanks to dead dogs placed in the drinking water storage tanks etc.

Though some subs may have suffered from sabotage during their initial construction in Germany, most of it occured in the outlying bases.

Sorry I made a typo here. Crash speed is the length of time to get under after ordering crash dive-this varies when Commander issues one of these loaded files.

Crash depth is the actual level off depth upon ordering crash dive. This is also randomized in Sab/Mal mod.
