SH3 had a "Return To Base" option. It's not in SH4?:-?

You gave me the idea, when you transported us west of Midway, out of Pearl. Coordinate this with missions completed,so as not to be boring. Another challenge, complete all missions, get quick trip home reward.:rock:You dah man ,can do.:know:

I'd like it too. This is the Pacific, it takes forever to travel. And If your damaged, it takes forever and a day.

Been looking a bit at the SH3 data...so far could not find what is actually telling the game to end the mission and return to base. But maybe we could get a hint as to how this could be done if we find it in SH3

If the game can transport you to start outside harbor to start,it can transport us back to port after completed missions/using all torps.it is already in the game, seems logical?no!:hmm:

Hm, true. I know Beery tried to do the opposite, well almost, always starting in harbour. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=113193&highlight=harbour
At the mo I am doing something different, could look in to it later maybe.

I usually did not use it in SH3 and really do not miss it here. Part of the successful patrol is making it back in one piece. Teleportation takes this part of the simulation away. Higher TC is a certain help in getting back relatively quickly.

Come on dissenters this idea should be an Give it incentive/reward for completing missions,& convince, not to waste time/fuel.Give it a shot,THXS.
Least we forget,we all were casual gamers once.Perhaps thats what brought us together @ Subsim ?

Good Donut, use it often in SH3 especially when I had a Type IX.

I used 'Return to Base' in SH3 once, when I had a damaged rudder and they left no way to fix it and no way to steer with the engines. Normally I drove home.

I have looked into this - and it doesnt look like its possible. The reason is this - the game gives you 2 positions to start from - at tender or outside harbor. The mod that fixed the attack map - changed the "outside harbor" coordinates to past midway. In essence - that change could be made to drop you in tokyo bay if thats what you wanted...

The problem is that returning to base - your going to a "set" location - you could change where the harbors are located, putting them closer to the war zone, but that would be about it. Would cut down on travel time, but would be unrealistic.

The only way to really "fix" this would be thru a change in the way SH4 is coded. UNLESS - someone can find the variable that gives you the end patrol within a certain distance. It looks like its about 25 nm. if that could be increased to say - 1000nm or more - then again - travel time would be reduced.
