Hey can anyone tell me HOW IN THE HECK I died... knocked out 3 dds and a Heavy cruiser.. with only deck gun damage...dived to 70ft and well no one was around then I died...that really blows ...play the game for a few hours of careful planning just to die....UBISOFT needs to correct this stuff.
Anyways on the modding community any ideas...since it seems mods keep UBISOFT games better.
Mine?
They're supposed to be at periscope depth, so maybe you hit one.

No i was at 70meters
nothing was around with min or no damage
this game is starting to suck....
I looked it up and the Jap DD's were not that good....they only sunk 13 subs in the whole war...
I did dive depth tests a while back with a few subs and one of the interesting things i discovered was that prolonged exposure to depths could suddenly end your career. I got down to the bottom of the gauge and was cruising along and then suddenly i sank. (soz i can't remember which subs it happened in)
With slight damage incurred, there is a possibility that 70 meters was close to the damage modified crush depth and this prolonged exposure caused the sudden sinking. I won't claim to know anything about real submarines, just stating what the game has done to my ship on several occasions.
Just because your ship is resisting an elevated pressure at the moment, doesn't mean it will necessarily survive at that depth forever.
70 feet is not quite the same as 70 metres

I haven't yet died, but I've received two medals for being wounded on consecutive patrols. Each patrol was relatively uneventful involving just the sinking of unarmed freighters and no other crew have been hurt. I guess I fell down a ladder or something.

Did you take any outside hull damage? Many, many threads on this type of
damage that will not be repaired at sea. Your crew will fix bulkheads and
the inside equipment but outside is another story....

Im not sure if I was at 70ft or 70 meters...the gauge said 70
I had the deck gun damaged thats all
not sure what to do...keep dying
probally go back to SH3 and GWX
I don't think all damage is shown. I dove after an engagement one time and was using time compression and was only making a couple knots. Whent to outside view, and the nose of my sub was out of the water. I limped across the Pacific like this until I was in an area where I could stay on the surface on my trip home.

Make an inspection of your sub outside. Damage inside can be 100% fixed
but on checking outside, you see holes. I have read this in a couple of threads
on this damage subject....

Hull damage is not showed at any place. You can have hull damage and can not to see it, plus you can receive a message from crew, "hull is repaired...sir" string and "hull is intact... sir" voice message, having a lot of hull damage.
Those string and voice messages are related to bulkhead, not hull.
Then if you dive too deep, you are done... !
Knowed here in this foprum as "the Domino effect"
Next time, after bulkhead repaired, save the game, and later open de save files, you can see the hull damage recorded into the save files.
Hull damage cant be repaired, it is accumulative, and is a measure of the hull stress condition.
If you want, try this pack of tweaks, i will aprecited any comment...
Download "Die Slowly Stage 13" from here :
http://hosted.filefront.com/Redwine
It changes a little bit ships way to sink, and sub damage model, not solve the "domino" effect, but make it happens not too often, most of the times, you will able to dive safe to peri depth and even to crash dive depth....

Check out this thread, it may be the answer to unknown damage :

If I read it right, it can check the save files directly and relate the info...

It is a nice app.
However, your hope that it may solve mysteries is a bit off. I have been looking at save files so I could see what was actually happening since day one.
