[REQ] send range and bearing data from Radar to TDC

Would it be possible to make a key command to send range data from radar to TDC the way it is done with the Sonar?
Apparently (from reading Ned Beach's Novels :D) radar was the usual way ranges were obtained on the surface, at least when it was installed (before 1943 there were hardly surfaced attacks anyway).
Could this be added by modding command.cfg or other files or is that something the developers must add?

I found your post while searching hoping someone had already made a mod like this. It seems kinda strange to me that the radar is obviously capable of providing fairly exact ranges and bearings and yet there's no way to move that info into the TDC other than eyeballing it and doing it yourself. Hell I'd be happy if there were a way to get more exact numbers off the radar screen than just trying to guesstimate visually.

Isn't there a button on the radar scope screen that will send the data to the TDC if you click it with your mouse? I'm still putzing around in late 1941 and haven't really used the radar yet, but I thought I'd run my mouse across a button that said it would do that. Even if there is, a key command would still be welcome, so I'm not trying to discourage making one - just thought the button might help in the meantime, if it works like it seems it would.

No button that I've been able to find. I guess the problem would be, how would it know which radar contact you want to send to the TDC, if there were several contacts on the radar screen at the time?

Well, never mind - must have been hallucinating - was just in game and I couldn't find any button on the radar either - maybe I was thinking about the one on the hydrophone screen. Too bad. I had assumed that since you could manually move the radar sweep (with the mouse wheel, or the home/end keys just like you can the hydrophone dial) you could put the sweep line on the target you wanted and it would send the range, like it does with the hydrophones. Does seem kinda odd that they wouldn't do that - sure would save some time and the hassle of trying to do it manually (I still haven't really figured out how you're supposed to enter the range manually on the TDC, though I'm sure there must be a way - just haven't played with it all that much yet).

You have that option for the hydrophone, you can send bearing and range from there:yep: Though I also have not seen it in the radar AFAIK and it would be not only useful but also realistic. :up:
