I have just spent two entire patrols... yes thats right... TWO ENTIRE back to back patrols experiencing this same situation.

leave Lorient, weather is perfect for the first 24 to 48 hours, then it starts to get rough seas. Thats ok though because it is not raining and i still have enough visibility to launch some sort of respectable attack.

Then i pick up a huge convoy in the central BE quadrants, and the weather turns absolutely sour! rain, visibility of about 400 meters, windy as hell.

I shaddow the convoy waiting for a break in the weather.

Days of following them and keeping up with their hydrophone bearings turns into weeks of slow going. i plot their positions, estimate their speed, plot their course. I follow them down to central CF grid squares just west of the azores. Still the weather continues to put my attack plans on hold.

I patiently continue to follow them through the turn to the southeast towards the CG quadrants. several more days. Im beginning to feel as if i should have loaded up 2 of every animal for this patrol instead of loading torpedos!!! DAMN THIS WEATHER.

as we approach a couple of hundred miles west of Gibralter i rush in on the surface at dusk in the pouring rain. i make visual contact with a tanker dead ahead at 400 meters. She veers hard to starboard. i veer hard to port and line up a snap shot with the stern tubes. she is hit now and sinking fast. Ahead of me is a C3 cargo, i let out a two fish spread at him, direct hits. Just then a shell rushes overhead the conning tower resuting in a large splash off the U-boats port side. i crash dive to evade and am depth charged for a short while... the convoy makes its way deep into the narrows of Gibralter, i would be a fool to follow them now. i head back to port. The rain continues until i am transitioning the bay of biscay.

I have just had it with this... the patrol before that was much the same way but up near iceland. exact same situation though, followed a convoy for 12 days until they were entering the St. Georges canal and it was getting too shallow and too risky to carry on after them. rain and fog not for a few days, but for the duration of an entire patrol! Its like the weather gets stuck in a bad weather loop of some kind.

i have decided to give this weather mod i have heard about a try, trouble is i dont know where it is or what the details are as far as what it does.

Hi, if you are running a supermod you will have to replace the following lines to the 3 campaign mis files, however this probably will not have any effect untill a new patrol is started or maybe even a new campaign, the following is from stock:

[Mission]
Title=
MissionType=0
MissionDataType=1
Year=1939
Month=1
Day=1
Hour=12

Precip=0
PrecipRand=0
WindHeading=0
WindSpeed=5.000000
WindRand=0
WeatherRndInterval=5

Hope this helps.:yep:
Cheers.

I think that's the one I'm using. Just started using it and it seems better. Using the random setting and you'll still get storms but not the Noah's Arc weather I was so sick of.
