The menu that pops up when a enemy aircraft or ship has been spotted, the one that says: "Engage target, Maintain current orders, dive to periscope depth." Can one of the options be changed to "Crash dive"?

When I get this menu I hardly ever want any of the options, I want to crash dive, but I have to hit "maintain current orders" then the C key to crash dive, wasting valuable seconds.

Hmm seems like a mod could replace the "dive to periscope depth" option with a "crash dive" option... you could make that the default action when an aircraft is spotted.

Yes! that would be a vast improvement!:yep: Although could be a problem if in shallow water, nicer if it could be changed to "Dive to periscope depth & flank speed"!

Untill someone mods that you can use sh3commander to make the tc drop to zero when the crew spots a plane.

Yes that would help a bit, give you time to decide actions to take, but still have to "unpause" then select "Dive to Periscope Depth" then flank speed, I might just do what you suggest for now!:yep:

I think it is more a matter of finding the right piece of code than actually doing it - and unless you have access to Kashmir I think this one of the things commanders can only dream about...

But you can change the depth to which you crash dive in your U-boot .cfg files (need to do each in turn though)...

It's the programming tool that the SH3 Devs used to create SH3, aka SDK.;)

What he said -

I read on a Russian site (well, the cached version from Google since the site itself seems to be gone) that you can change the command and behaviour by altering one of the files, and for that you need the SDK (said Kashmir). The site had a few links up for the tool, but they were all dead though I heard a rumour that there is one floating about on an asian site...

Now that's kinda interesting ;)

Don't even bother mate. 37000 search results most of which come back as Kashmir 3D and I got to page 45 without anything relevent.

nope, it wasn't the 3D prog - it was the SDK from Ubi (which they promissed to release way back in November (funny, for other Ubi titles the SDK comes out almost instantly, this one isn't even mentioned on the official sites) and only referred to in later posts as Kashmir) and they were discussing if there was a Russian tranlation available...
now if I remember rightly the thread was dated march last year and I stumbled on it using the 'Spy-Sat' search terms (I was looking for the vanilla version mentioned in the board that is no longer available from anywhere it seems). as far as my Russian holds up to it these guys were discussing some tweks in great detail using the SDK to change all sorts of values - annoyingly I didn't mark any of it or copy some of the stuff down and my cache is cleard once I shut down the PC (it was late and I was very tired) :damn:

I have gotten in touch with Ubi a couple of weeks ago but so far all I got was a standard reply that they received my mail, bla bla...

Until the tech wizards (smarter than I) can solve this, as a pratical approach:
Don't I recall that the grey box allows a default setting of "Do nothing" or "Continue present orders"? I have that as my default.
When aircraft is spotted I go flank, hit D to dive (not crash), set depth to about 30 meters, have the navigator check the depth available with a single ping, adjust depth if needed, go hard a port or starb and then reduce speed to Ahead 1/3. Gets me down quickly, but in control and lets me then evaluate the situation in a stable state.

How do you set that as the default? :hmm:

How do you set that as the default? :hmm:

Press escape and choose 'reset default action'. (or something close)

Then when the action box pops up again, look for a little check box in the bottom corner called 'Make default', put a tick in there and that action will happen each time it occurs. FYI the action will have to be set for planes & ships.

When on patrol. Press esc and click on "options". there should be the option to reset the standard actions.
