stoping the stop watch in time compression

Is there any way to stop the chronometer from appearing in high time compression.

I've read where some have click 'n dragged the watch to the upper right off screen--out of sight for the remainder of their play.

I treied to do the fix I saw in here but couldn't get it to work.

So instead I simplified it by just clicking and dragging it into the upper right corner and just dropping it there for the rest of the game, it will come back later if you close the mission and then reopen it, but then you can just repeat the method of moving it.
It's simple and the item in question is completely out of the field of view if you push it far enough up into the corner.
