Hi - been trying to sort out the SHIII Mods List. Think it need some tightening and a bit of updating.

Here's what I come up with so far, but before proceeding too far, I would like to have some feedback.

As you can see, the index is expanded. Trying to make it easier to find, what one need...

Not much has been transfered yet - just a bit to show layout and grouping.

What do you think?

Btw. this isn't intended to be the final sticky thread, but just one for working out the details... please bear with me :roll:

Looks great! A much needed rework of the SH3 mods list:up:

Once you come up with a definitive form, I'll make it sticky and it will be closed for posts, just be available for reading.

Come on Kaleuns it's you who have most interest in having this great guide! Give this man some feedback on how it looks better and is more useful:rock:

looks good and a very worth while idea,the wealth of mods and stuff has made it quite a task to find the things you want,and relative noobs like me end up either posting questions that have been asked hundreds of times before or bothering the more accomplished members about this that and the other;) this is a good idea:know:

Personally I would like to have the many entries sorted out in more minor subgroups. If you scroll through the list, what is the order in it? IMHO a bit chaotic... no offense :oops:

I have an idea of putting each topic in each own post.
Post #1 could be news, general info and the main index.
Post #2 is Mod Packs, post #3 GamePlay Mods and so on.
Maybe add a few more for future use... not necessary, if thread is closed...
That way you could right-click on an entry in the main index and ask your browser to open it in a new window/tab...

It could also make editing a bit easier... :hmm:


If "the project" gets green light and everyone's happy, then the planned schedule is:
- edit/rearrange index as feedback asks for
- transfer and sort out old mods list
- check for dead links (can't find a way to autocheck them?? one-by-one, yes but in a bunch?)
- pester Neal for some of the old dead links (pretty cool stuff burried there)
- add new entries for an up-to-date list
- if wanted/wished for:
- implement FAQ
- implement shipslist
- implement links thread

Feedback is needed and necessary. Nothing's too small.

Hi Jan,

hell of a work but pretty good idea.
I´d provide "my own" links (threads/download sites) in appropriate format for you. Thus it would be easier for you.
Creating different posts to sort them is a good idea too. I would add a WIP post as well.

As regard to locking the thread for posting, is this wise?

Personally I would leave it open for suggestions of inclusion to the list and possible problems with mod links, for example the threads for IUB/Rub etc have been added are the links to these mods still active and usuable? We don't want to see extra threads being started asking for "where are links for this, that & the other mod/addition".

Also, might I ask that once this list is underway, can we get at least another 2 mirrors for each mod, prefferably permanent ones (no risk of auto deletion). I will undertake some of this myself.:up:

A couple of days to sort out the existing mod list and maybe the same to add the new entries for making the list up-to-date. Compared to the amount of work putted (or is it just put?) into making the mods, this is nothing :oops:

And once again, the above list is nothing more than an example or suggestion to how the future structure could or might look like. Posted only to get some feedback and requests! Once the structure is defined, one of the tasks is to get rid of dead links. So patience required a bit longer... :ping:


Speaking of patience... :hmm: maybe there should be a deadline? Say one week from now to gather feedback and requests. Thereafter I'll keep working according to the planned schedule as seen at the bottom of post #6.

That is of course I'm not sacked before that :88)

What I'd really like to see would be if the 10 big categories where all in different posts. I guess it's much easier to edit afterwards when haven't got all in one post, and if you link to those 10 posts in the index, I think things would be much quicker to find.

It could also be beneficial for GWX & associated mods to be totally sepparate as this is probably the largest & most used of all!:) Just a thought!:D

I'm not offended; it's an excellent objection. I just thought that it might be easier to start with an established base. But it's Jan Kyster's project, and I'm sure he knows what he's doing.
