As said above, most games these days are D3D. But some games look alot better in OpenGL mode, such as Deus Ex.

Oh indeed OpenGL is still used, I personally prefer it to DirectX (I grew up with OpenGL classics like Quake 2/3 and such:|\\ ). OpenGL can make 'em pretty indeed.:)
