For those who are experiencing the 'message lock-up' syndrome, even after using ParaB's fewer radio contacts mod. the answer may, and I say only may, lie here.
Please note that this is not a mod, it is a fix, work-round, solution, whatever you like to name it, to a problem. It works for me and I am passing this on in the hope that it may help others. :D
I noticed in the past that I was getting this lock-up mainly whilst using accelerated time and not being quick enough to open the message pad when the indicator was blinking. As a result I sometimes had as many as 40 long messages all of the same content. This of course really caused problems. Through the forum (MadHarry) I was led to believe that the Radio Washington folder could be the cause. Sure enough, in this folder were all the messages that I had been getting, these being contained in the .ini files.
As a follow up and after making back ups I deleted the .ini files, except events.ini that are to be found in DATA/SOUND/RADIO/WASHINGTON/EVENTS folder.
This seems to have done the trick, the set back is that I do not of course receive the information and sometimes when the indicator flashes and I open the message pad there is no message. For me, no probs, at least no more hang-ups. :D
I tried to find the trigger for these texts so that I could change it to 'received once' configuration but had no success however the results I have are o/k by me.
Maybe this will help if you are also experiencing the same lock-up/hang-up syndrome.
My very many thanks must go to MadHarry who so kindly pointed this source out to me.
I am not sure of what effects the patch/es could have on this, maybe you must return the .ini files to original before patching or maybe you must once more delete them after patching, not sure but in any case I don't think it is a big problem, just make sure you back-up the originals !!! :hmm:
