Hi all...
I found the radar contacts so big, i made this small fix to reduce the size of the radar contacts in the radar cathodic tube screen.
The stock file was made into a 64x64 texture, it was full filled by the contactc.
I maintain the original texture size, but the contact graphic was reuced as it was for a 16x16 texture size.
You have the contacts at 1/4 size of the stock size now.
Now, you are able to see individual contacts even into large size convoys.
Hope some body can found it useful....

Excellent Redwine!, That really improves the look of the PPI radar. What a shame the developers did not have the time to make something like the radar screens in SH1.
Regards
Thanks and BTW does someone know how to get range circles in the PPI radar? My 1943 Gato does not ship them but I have seen them in some screenshots. Are they added later in the war??

Never seen them. If they do appear it must be after mid-44 because thats as far as I've played to.
@Redwine - very nice mod! A big improvement.

I was looking for that... i was thinking to incude them into the rotative beam, but sadly there is not plae into the texture, so i need to build a bigger one, but the problem i cant reach good to manage the crops into this game, it is a little bit complex, not intuitive and simple as in SH II.
May be i need to serach and found the PPI texture, i cant found it yet...

Very nice mod thank you".
OK so I'm not the only one wondering where the scale is :hmm: . I normally switch to the A-scope radar to get range, but look at this creen posted by Neal long ago: There is a scale in the PPI. I want that!!

Well the file for the PPI circles is in the game: ppiCircles.dds in Data/Misc, but I can't find the entry in the menu.cfg. Isn't it implemented??:hmm:

ppiCircles.dds !!! What an obvious !
May be we can add them over the ppi screen disregarding if they are implemented or not ?
Nice Work Redwine.
I lost my range scales after Patch 1.1 :hmm:

AHA!!! That clarifies something! I'm looking into the 1024_Menu of the stock 1.0 Silent Hunter. Probably there is a reference to that PPI circles and it somehow got lost when updating to 1.1.

Haven't tried it yet, but the idea is very promising. Nice to have smaller indicators :D

have you figured out how to add the range circles yet?
it wont be in menu cause it aint 2d. its a texture on a 3d object. if its anywhere the setting will be in the interior, conning tower files..
As the patch was out so quick, I never ran 1.0 so i never saw it.

This thread / mod is over 5 years old now. Don't know if it even exists anymore, or if the author is still around.
Silent Hunter 4 itself is 5 years old too and very much still around :)
I was hoping someone may still have this add on. I myself keep software for a very long time. I still have floppy disks with the original version of Grand Theft Auto on. It's over 15 years old :know:

Your a star Webster!! :yeah: Thank you very much. :)
Hi folks.. I installed the RADAR mod as directed and it has not made a bit of difference, I still see the vague blurry red blob as previously and gauge and bearing data is non existent.
Anyone had better luck with this?
This is my awful RADAR..

Redwine, This has all been done before, there is a mod for this in the mod section! It has like 3 variations. If its not there anymore, PM me and I'll send you this mod. It should work on 1.4 or 1.5 Indy

Thank you for this, I can't count how many times I've chased a cloud on the radar and found nothing....can't say I'm the greatest captain ever, but I'm damn sure if you follow a cloud at flank speed you'd at least close the damn gap.
This really will help narrow down the area considerably as well so thank you very much for this great contribution. :yeah:

04-16-2007, 06:15 AM Done before? This thread was originally posted five years ago. The game was released March 20, 2007. He is the guy that did it before anyone else had done it.
