Leaving port in a Type II, and notice....I have 6 torpedoes? 3 in tubes, 3 reloads?

Is that a 'stock' bug or something GWX thought would be an interesting enhancement?

Can't find anything about it in the GWX documentation...

Ah, interesting. Bit of research turned up this thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/archive/index.php/t-103763.html) in the archives...

...but Google sez 5 is the right number (http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=%22type+II%22+%22six+torpedoes%22&word2=%22type+II%22+%22five+torpedoes%22). :p

Hi Mike,

The Type II was designed to carry 6 torpedoes and sometimes they did however it turned out that it wasn't practical to do so on most war patrols with all of the other supplies necessary etc. and they typically only carried 5. That's why this site just lists the Type II as carrying only 5. The 6th torpedo also affected the boat's trim.

So both are correct - the Type II did (sometimes) carry 6 torpedoes but not often after the war started http://www.uboat.net/forums/mods/smileys/images/smilie1.gif I suspect whatever GWX is has used this forum as a source of information in the past as I know this topic has been discussed here before.

Regards,

Ken Dunn

In the 30īth Flot. you need that extra torpedo:rock:

The crew will have to make do with the provisions we can make room for:arrgh!:

Clay Blair says six.

Whenever conflicting research results came about... Clay Blair's work is what we consider to be the "definitive" source.

Would it be possible in GWX to make some kind of balance for 'convenience'/'supplies' vs 'extra torpedo' (since, apparently, the 6th torp didn't really have stowage, and needed to be lashed down on the deck, seriously getting in the way)?

Perhaps - have the crew fatigue faster on patrols where the extra torpedo was carried?

What you mean "we", paleface? I thought you said you would at least share how to change it back.:p

What I mean by "we" is the GWX Devs. If and or when we run into a data research conflict, we've decided that Clay Blair will decide the direction we take.

If you wish to change the torpedo loadout of your Type IIA, find the following data block in SilentHunterIII/data/Cfg/Basic.Cfg:

[SUBMARINE_AMMO0]; IIA
Type=0
Version=0
ForeTubes=3
AftTubes=0
ForeResIntern=3 Change this number to 2
ForeResExtern=0
ForeResExtra=0
AftResIntern=0
AftResExtern=0
ShellSlots=4
NbYears=7

For the Type IID find:

[SUBMARINE_AMMO1];IID
Type=0
Version=1
ForeTubes=3
AftTubes=0
ForeResIntern=3 Change this number to 2
ForeResExtern=0
ForeResExtra=0
AftResIntern=0
AftResExtern=0
ShellSlots=4
NbYears=7
Renown=2

Concerning an alternate fatigue model specifically for the Type II's, we have no plans to create one. The SH3 game engine only supports one fatigue model.

I LOVE YOU, MAN!!!

Seriously, it's been so long since I've been able to play I had forgotten where those files were. It might be fun to switch back and forth and then file a report of the crew complaining "No where to sleep!" :rotfl:
