I just finished a rough but successful patrol and have a number of "wounded" crew members, (colored pink in the crew roster). I have returned to Pear Harbor, docked, and reloaded torps, but cannot find how to replace these crew members. I started another patrol but my "wounded" have come along for the ride! Any help would be very apprecaiated.

I let mine off at the base.
You need to let those wounds get treated, you know.
Unless they are dead.
Then you really need to let them off.

You need to drag them from the sub to the right over the off leave crew.
to the Left I mean

How do I do that? I could find nothing in the manual about that.
When you end a patrol and get back to the office click on the crew managment, the crew photo on the desk or the sub and go to the crew managment screen, grab wounded or dead crewmen with the mouse and drag them to the left side of the screen, a window will popup asking if you want to dismiss that crew member, say yes.
Now grab a fresh crewman to replace the one you removed and drag him to the slot on the sub...be sure to pay attention to the crewmans skills and renown costs.
Hope this helps :D

Living crew complaining about the smell again, eh?
You know, if this were a modern sub sim there would be more respect for the breathing-challenged.

It's time to let them have their nice dirt nap. ;)
I'm having crew management problems too with SH4.
I just returned form a mission and managed to dismiss 3 petty officers and 2 normal officers. Yet when I now try to replace with better trained equivalent them the game tells me i have too many of each.
How can this be when I just sacked 5?
Any help please? :arrgh!:

That's a small "bug" in the stock game. The game comes with a limit of officers and PO's. For some reason, when the game generates a sub, it does it with more than the limit.:k_confused:
I no longer have the stock game.. I have the FULL Ubisoft expansion installed and also the two biggest super mods installed with the JGSM thingy...
One would have expected that this bug be adressed with all the attention this game has had.. :hmmm:
I had the same problem. After fiddling around, I came to the conclusion that the "crew" had very little to do with my success (or the lack of it) in-game, and decided it wasn't really worth worrying about. :-?

Hope you're not running buth supermods at the same time.
No sir... tried several and prefer the TMO :)

Unfortunately, the manual is extremely vague on crew management as well as other important issues in running a sub. The only portion I felt was a complete section was the torpedo solution and firing.

And be sure not to grab the guy who you just gave the sack to. I accidentally did this before. I didn't realize it until I left port and was over 2000 nm away. I then looked over at the XO and asked " why is he still here?"

I haven't done that, but did, while moving too fast, picked up the wrong crew member and sacked that one.:damn: Be careful and make sure you have the right crew member.
