 :know:
After head-butting the wall for '2 weeks', believe me this is a joy.....

The SH4 Sextant (this image is grainy - compressed bmp screen grab)

I've managed to get the sextant image overlay on the bridge (where it'll be used).
the plan is to make it a 'slide-out' similar to the torpedo tubes one. I did manage this, but something went wrong and it 'bombed', so I've restarted and doing it step by step...slowwwwwly !!!

More later dudes

Excellent! I look forward to this, as I navigate manually!

Navigate manually ?? -- Game or reallife ?

anyway here's the plan.. with this mod.
(Picked from another thread)

-all the imaging has been done for SH3 (and is working)
-SH4 imaging is the current problem
-A new grid map has been made for SH3 (this is not necessary for SH4 as it has grids integrated on the map)
-The Sub icon has been removed for SH3 (still has to be done for SH4)
-The map zoom level has been restricted for SH3 (still has to be done for SH4) => this will prevent YOU from obtaining you exact position via map zooming ;) although you will still have an approximate location.
-The Star charts (1939-45)has been compiled. SH3 has been checked for accuracy in this regard, and found to be accurate for use. SH4 must still be checked.
-The Sun almanac (1939-45)has been compiled. SH3 passed accuracy check. SH4 must still be checked.
-The Moon almanac is a big problem which has been resolved recently.Must still be check for SH3 and SH4.
-A Celestial Navigation educational document is near completion, but will probably have to go through a review!!

So S-h.1.t, I started this mod 6 months ago, and it's bigger than what I thought it would be. It's been a great educational thing for me, which will be great when used in game.

'6 months ago I cood not spel Naveegate.. Now I are one..' :o

In the game. Made the sub and tail graphics on the map invisible, and I navigate according to Kumando's manual navigation rules...

Good luck, Vanjast, and thanks for all your work so far! I'm really excited about chucking the gps over the side!

Skweetis, for clarification, you're using Kumando's manual nav rules in SH4? And I read the thread you linked to, but Kumando mentioned using a wind rose to take sights. I haven't noticed a "wind rose" in SH4, but maybe I'm blind or maybe he's referring to something else. Thanks for the help.

Great job man. I can imagine that it is pretty complex stuff. Looking forward to it.
