Which mod to use?

Hi, I'm looking for the best available single install mod fpr Silent Hunter 3. The mod should enhance realism but not necessarily difficulty but gaming experience. Any advices?

GWX or NYGM :p But ptobably the best isto download both and make two installs, then try which one your prefer. GWX ships more eye-candy, that's for sure. Wether it is more "realistic" than NYGM or the opposite is probably a matter of taste. Since none of us has experienced the U-Boot reality, it's all about which game play you prefer and seems to you more approximate to what you know about real life U-Boots.:smug:

A grand Idea, why not?
Make it a sticky even. Can a poll be done in this forum as just a poll - no posts I wonder. Or limited to 1 post & 1 post only. It would need to include the major mods and not be skewed for any particular one and ability for people to vote for more then one. Cookie from the site should keep it fairly honest. I would say GWX would take 80%.

If you want harder difficulty, more realistic gameplay, and better visuals go for GWX.

However if you don't want the stock gameplay to be any different then go with War Ace Campaign. Its just cosmetic so far as I understand.

regarding HOOW MUCH PR is done by the team of GWx and the GWx hype this poll results in an " I like... because it is the best" like mentioned above.
without ever playing the other mods that are inside this poll to campare them!!

It was not my intent to create a 'mine is better than your's' situation and I deeply respect any mod creator for their ingenuity and capabilities. As I stated in the Poll, I just wanted to know the majority prefference.:up:

I'm always of the opinion that you try before you buy. That is why when we used to get questions about which mod is better, I always replied, 'Try them all'.

I'm sorry if I have somehow offended any mod creator in creating this poll. It was not my intent.

You really really don´t know :nope: Perhaps "only cosmetic" wasn't the best description. But so far as I know War Ace doesn't delve into the files to alter the gameplay towards realism all that much, aside from changing shipping and and adding events and such.

Doesn't War Ace use the stock version of the damage model and other things that usually are the centre of other mod's attention?

Exactly. I predominantly use (as the poll asks) GWX, but it doesn't mean I think it's the best. Maybe it is? But I can't objectively make that call until I try the others. And even then, what I think is best is just my opinion. What mod I predominantly use, however, is fact. So a well phrased poll question danlisa as it focusses on fact and not individual interpretation like the usual "which mod is best?" fare. :up:

Having said this, I think WAC looks interesting. I may try it out after I finish working on GWX. :yep:
