- AMM, CHT, COT, CVW, ECT, KCA by AG124, with UV Mapping by Ref, deck textures by Boris, and GWX damage models by Von Helsching.
- C3 – multiskin .dat by Sergbuto.
- NPTR and NKGN by Sergbuto.
- J class DD, C/D class DD, Illustrious CV, Coastal Trader – multiskin .dat by UBOAT234.

@ Boris - It contains most of my kitbashed ships, with the exception of the Belize (too much like the Coastal Merchant), the Rose Castle, and the Proteus (neither of them have been UV Mapped). It also does not contain the Lightship (lighted by Anvart for me) or either of the two cruisers I built in GWX with Ref.

In addition to these, it contains the two original cloned merchants from Sergbuto (I got permission from him first and credited him for them). The rest of the ships were stock though.

this was installed on a clean copy and works fine...might have issues if you install the newer ID book...but not sure...

OK, the NCOT.cfg file has the class name as just COT. I changed it to NCOT, and the mission editor stopped giving the error. will load up game and see if that fixes it.

That depends on the number of generic entries in the camapaign files. Not sure how much in the SH4 campaign is generic offhand, but there should be some. At very least the merchants should spawn as single contacts.

I hear these will be on the ocean in a campaign. If so, that will sure add some VARIETY.

Maybe we can sink some Kraut ships over in the eastern area. Excuse being, they were in the Indian Ocean. We know that. And maybe we can have a few Nazi tankers loading up on the IndoChina Southeast Asia oil. Optional for those of us who can play a hypothetical game.


Maybe the SH4 game engine can't deal with any more enemy nations than the Japs. I don't know. Though i hear Thailand was on the Japanese side of the war.

Hi to all, and thanks to the moders who have made this possible.

Will the ships in this mod have the same damage profiles as the native SH4 ships, will they smoke and explode the same, will they exhibit 3d damage.

Will these ships skins look like the native Sh4 ship skins, or will they look like sh3 skins sticking out in sh4, will they exhibit the same lighting and environmental characteristics as native sh4 ships

That depends on the number of generic entries in the camapaign files. Not sure how much in the SH4 campaign is generic offhand, but there should be some. At very least the merchants should spawn as single contacts.

Almost every merchant ship is generic in SH4. I'd wager way over 90%.

The one liner that is white on top totally disappears against the sky right now, other than that they seem to look pretty much like other SH4 ships to me.

:up: I was use to Sh3 ...should have corrected that....Im working on a few things to enhance the ships...PEOPLE...I am working on version 2.0 now....

I really think the guys who made the ships should get most of the credit..I just converted them...although that takes time...we wouldnt have these ships at all without them.

I did this once, using the text editor on the campaign files, just changing out the values, for SH3.
I'm not exactly sure how, I'm pretty sure it's the SCR layer that controls ship traffic in SH3, but it looks completely different in SH4.

Making entries generic using a word processor so that they will spawn different types of ships is easy in itself - I will explain some of it later (I have to study right now). The hard part in this case (at least as far as I can see) is determining which of the many campaign files will support generic entries. In SHIII, the random layer would easily do so, while the scripted layer would crash unless a class name was specified.:shifty: In SHIV, the only campaign file type which can definitely (as far as I know) support generic entries is the 'merchant' type - these already have lots of those entries, except for the "other nations" ones.

I'll give you a quick lesson. Open one of the campaign files (I always use WordPad) and find an entry like class=KSQ. Put a semi-colon in front of the line, so it looks like ;class=KSQ. Now, instead of choosing the Split-Superstructure freighter (or whatever KSQ is in SHIV - I don't remember right now), the game will choose one of any of the type 102 (Cargo) vessels assigned to whatever nation the entry is for. That's pretty much the basics of it. Make sure you make a backup file of course. Also, using the find and replace options of whatever program you choose to edit the files can make things go faster.:cool:

Adding entirely new entries and new traffic for other nations is trickier - I'll let someone else explain that.:88)

The readme says the names must be added to english.cfg into the Roster folder...

May be they must be added into names.cfg ?

now as for your issue

what version of SH4 do you have? because the merchants have always have this covmerchant.dds file

look at C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Menu\Gui\RecManual and see if you have these files below:
Discovered ... the problem was i created a folder called "01 Bak Merchants Pack" and put inside the stock file "names.cfg".

Then the program assume the folder "01 Bak Merchants Pack" is a country and claims for its flag... :damn:

BTW, if I wish to remove a certain ship from a given country, what do I have to do, remove the ship_type.cfg under the countries roster, or is there also a master list for each country someplace?

goto the data/roster/sea/ {NATION} pick a ships you want to remove and delete...if you dont want a certain nation just delete that whole folder...

Some of the new ships while really cool have nothing even close in the real japanese merchant marine, so i might expunge them from that traffic.

The texture of the hit ship twinkles and flickers. That always happens at imported sh3 ships. This only happens if the ship is met. Who knows advice?

Germany ships can be added to game rather easily now I see, however will take a few to get the set up ready as not to CTD with 1.2

It's the one listed as ships1.0.7.z (22.27Mb). I think the modder should rename it so its easier to find (I just guessed and assumed it would be the largest of the mods size-wise).

It's very nice btw, however all the damn 4 letter acronym's are confusing the heck out of me. I feel like I'm dyslexic or something when going to the recog. manual! :D

After this is done, the lettered names shouldn't appear in the game itself anymore - those should only normally be a concern to the program itself and to modders.;)

I still trying... :|

I bought new graphic card. Nvidia gf7600gs (O/C her to GF7600GT - SHIV works with this beautyfully! and fast ;) ) . Previously I used ATI Radeon 9600. I have installed Your mod with hope that new card and resolution will help... and... :( I still have no textures on new ships converted from SHIII. BUT!...

I installed mod with HMS Repulse conversion from SHIII to SHIV copyrighted by Warhunter... and.. it works fine!!! THERE ARE TEXTURES!

I am really disapointed of one issue: i can not install english aircraft carrier Illistrious :(

Anything new what can be a problem with textures?...

The "N" class destroyer which can be found in the "Ship Power Pack 2 Updated" can also be used for the Netherlands, not just Australia, as the Dutch Navy operated two "N" class destroyers from 1942-45: Hr.Ms. "Van Galen (II)" and "Tjerk Hiddesz (II)".
