View Full Version : Captains Picture
I've been trying to replace the captains picture and have prepared a pic to the right dimensions and file type but it still doesn't show in the game. I think maybe it's because the file does not have the correct name, my problem is, I don't have the original file (can you say DUH???) so I cant rename the pic I want to use. Could someone take a peek in their data folder and let me know the name given to the original image?

Should work. The original is a TGA File (.tga) format, are you sure you saved as that in
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\CaptainPicture
yup, saved it to the right place and as a .tga, maybe I had the file name wrong.
Thanks Capt
well, I tried again, saved it to the 'CaptainPicture' folder as a .tga file of the correct size but it still doesn't show so I'm now officially stumped.

Weirdness...hey, download this one and try.

Its saved in TGA 32-bit in Photoshop...no special size, but it works here.
Nope, still nothing. I even tried disabling all the mods I have and then putting the pic in the folder.still nothing, ah well, no biggie....thanks for trying though. You do some great mods, thanks for all your efforts.
Someone in the forums posted a link to zoot radio which has a ton of old radio shows and is all public domain stuff, have you taken a look at it?

Not yet, well I checked out the thread. Been busy trying to figure the pull down pacific "NaviMap" and now the "CrashDive" instead of "EngageTarget" when that window pops up encountering a threat. But that the pic wont work is total weirdness x100, should just work...well well.

It should be 512x626x16.7 million. One thing to try is to past over the in-game picture. Make a copy for backup of the original sailor photo. Then, past your image directly onto the picture.tga. When you save it, it should save at the same settings and compression, as the original.

Weird. I replaced mine with a picture of Rita Hayworth with no problems at all. Looks pretty nice. I personally wouldn't call it a mod, more of a tweak but if anyone wants it I can post it. Actually, I'll just "REL" it just incase.
Heck yeah!
Rita Hayworth is fine - there's something downright unsavoury about having a picture of a sailor on the desk....

LOL thats exactly what I was thinking too. I kept telling myself only if it was my son.
Yeah, I'm searching out a nice pic for that desk photo too. Actually I'd like to replace both photos - the one of the sailor and the one of the crew. Does anyone know where the crew photo is kept. I've looked in the usual places but I can't find it anywhere.
If it's not actually in a folder (i.e. if it's still in a volume file somewhere) can anyone tell me what it's called so I can make one up?

It was a hack of the office to put Bernard's name in the background. If the office can be hacked, that desk and picture are probably there too. Could it be in Data\Interior\CaptainRoom\CaptainRoom.dat?
finally figured out that the pic file has to be called 'picture' all lower case for it to be recognised...........:-)
I found the crew picture. It's Textures\TNormal\tex\mapa07.dds
