I think the Soviet Battleship is a nice addition, however was not in the Pacific...matter of fact was sunk by Hans Ulrich Rudel...The only Golden Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds holder in the 3rd Reich.

He also destroyed 150 anti-aircraft and anti-tank positions, 800 motor vehicles, a Soviet Cruiser, a Soviet Destroyer, 70 Soviet landing craft, and numerous bridges and bunkers. He also heavily damaged another Soviet Battleship, the October Revolution.

I have a large collection of Naval Books, Im a military historian...and if anything I have a VAST amounts of pics of World War 2 battleships...if anyone needs help...

Wait, there's a Marat in the game? :o

Someone cloned the stock Fuso class Japanese BB to represent it. The same modder also cloned the Kuma class to represent a Soviet CL.

In which case I suppose it's a bit odd calling it a true Marat model in the first place. I can see where the parallel is from, but hey, Fuso is still Fuso, even for all the structural similarities.:hmm:

Not that I have anything against stand-in models! Just saying, I don't think it's fair to criticize them too much.

@ CCIP - You're completely right - sometimes clones can be great additions to the Silent Hunter series (just look at Sergbuto's first two merchants for SHIII, or the USS Essex by Cdre Gibs ). Sometimes though, the differences between the RL ship and the clone can be a little too great - in this case, the Fuso and Marat classes are quite different. Also, jmjohnson36 is right about these ships never seeing Pacific service anyway.

BTW - I am not criticising using existing ships to build new ones - every single ship I have ever built for SHIII is a kitbash aftr all.:88) Some have been more accurate than others.:hmm:

Im not critizing those who make this game awesome... but the russians really didnt do much against the Japs...now if I could figure out to add some Aussies and British minor ships I would...I am willing to help...and willing to learn...I very familiar with SH3...but lost here...if someone could point me towards a way to add SH3 I would work on the rest.

Well I see where you're coming from, too - but hey, people mod what they want to mod. And in this case, it's a quick-and-easy mod, so why not? Certainly, one wouldn't expect a Marat to show up in the Pac, let alone play into an American sub campaign in any way. On the other hand, from what I recall someone did import a Russian cruiser class that was 'kitbashed' in SHIII that would be somewhat relevant. But again, people mod what they want. Some just want "their" ships in :) (and I sympathise with the Marat-modder there, being Russian myself)

Otherwise, hey, it's an open field! Sure there's a ton of ship that are begging to be put in the Pac! For allies, the Dutch, Aussies and British are sorely lacking. More importantly, there is a TON of Japanese vessels that need to be made.

I suggest you check in the SHIII modding forum, specifically the Ship Modding sticky [thread]. There is a lot of good info and people would happily point you to the right tools. So far as we're aware, there's not really any more tricks to SHIV modelling than SHIII!

@ CCIP - Actually, there were two Soviet cruisers imported from SHIII (Kirov class and Maxim Gorkij class), and they were originally brand new models rather than kitbashes, I think.:know:

2 of the Maxim Gorki class were part of the Ru Pacific fleet
